Ford is good. Much better than GM and Dodge.

However, the Ranger ain't no Tacoma. And I doubt this thing will be a Hilux, much as it tries to look like one.

the old ones, yes. The newer ones (newer than the mid '90s) are junk IMO. I was actually looking at them when I was looking for a truck and all 3 I test drove (all with the 4.0 v6 and 5 speed) were absolute dogs and made the strangest noises. They all also had less than 70k miles too.

The older Mazda built Rangers are pretty good IMO. I would read the trade magazines and reviews and then wait 5 years. If the repair record was still good I would buy one.

I like the look of this Global Ranger...and two diesel engine options is pretty awesome! Of course if they brought this Ranger to North America it would only come with the eco-boost V6, not that 350hp is a bad thing

I've been liking Ford lately, but they charge way too damn much for all their cars and trucks, except maybe the very small cars.
Building up your own F-150 on the website and looking at the price before taxes and fees makes you want to vomit.

I'm okay with the way 't6' truck looks, but I wouldn't buy because it's going to cost an arm and a leg, and it looks too "girlish" to me.

Looks alot like a squatty Sport Trac to me...and the doggone steering wheel is on the wrong side. Wonder if they even noticed. Those idiots.

My Rangers ('87 and '92) were hands down the best vehicles I ever owned. We beat the hell out of them and they just kept going. The '87 had 250,000 miles on it when I traded it in and never needed any substantial repairs.

Now, I love to drive my '10 Tacoma and I loved my '09 Tacoma (which I had to Lemon Law) and I wouldn't trade my Tacoma for one of these new Rangers. But, when the time comes to retire this one (in 10+ years), I would give one of these Rangers consideration.

Besides, have you seen the Afgani Rangers? Bad ass!!

Keep in mind this Ranger is designed for Australia, the same place partsmakers like ARB earn their pedigree. The tough conditions in the Outback easily rival the Afghan desert.
