They look like they have worn down well, but yea definitely new tire time! You've got bigger fish to fry if the wife gives you shit on getting new tires. It's a matter of safety...jus sayin.

x2. Cracks like that are Dry rot. Replace them as soon as possible, otherwise as was said before you're going to rip a fender off when it decides to shit the bucket on you at 50-60mph.

Although I did see a tire rip off a minivan normally pulling away at a light at night. She had sparks shooting up over the top of her little POS van.

Yep, y'all convinced me, and most importantly convinced the wife. I called around and the cheapest I could find the MS2's was at Sears, after the $70 michelin discount coupon it'll end up being $710 total. Not bad, most places I talked to quoted around $800 or above, except for Town Fair Tire who wouldn't give me a quote at all and actually tried to talk me into cheaper, non-michelin tires. If I can I'm going to try to go this saturday to get the new shoes, if not I may have to wait until next weekend. No rain or snow in the forecast at least.

    .

Price them at COSTCO or Discount Tire ... if you do not buy them there ... most places will price match them.

I checked with everybody, my local Sears was the cheapest even without the $70 coupon.

Yep, Sears still beat them. I'm getting 4 ms2's for $778 total, and then I can send the michelin coupon in and get $70 back so it'll end up being $708 total. Hopefully by next weekend the old girl'll have new shoes. I'll be happy if these new one's don't spin out in the rain, the last few rain storms we've had here have been a little dicy, especially if I'm on a hill at a stop. I was having to put it into 4 wheel drive just so I didn't spin out. Not a bad thing against the Toyo's since they lasted their mileage specs and they were pretty good tires overall, but I"ll be real interested to see if these new one's do anything to help my mpg's and/or handling.

After reading all y'alls posts I'm a little surprised mine didn't fail, MA is pretty strict and checks lots of things during inspection, I failed last week because of a bad tie rod but the guy never said a word about my tires. He actually pulled a nail out of my rear and plugged it and didn't say jack.
