Ha I can't tell you that. All you have to know now is that this thread has attention by the entire moderator staff, and that TW has a strict NO POLITICS policy. Don't y'all get mad at me when the hammers get thrown around!
Yeah I have fingers crossed that my career prospects only push me into higher tax brackets so I am trying to get in on Roth while I still can. Am I right? Won't know till I get there.
I'll try to keep it open unless you shmucks get outta hand.
I got his 30 day ban choked back to 7... I'm not going to step on another mod's toes, but I did what I could. He'll be back Tuesday.
    NO NO NO NO NO
This post is EXACTLY what we CANNOT have in here. Anything that stirs political discussion will not be allowed. FINAL ANSWER.

Do "I" personally think that this is relevant? Of course. Does the TW CoC allow for it? Zero headroom for it. As such we need to cut this stuff out if y'all want to continue this discussion on TW. I don't make the rules, but I do enforce them. Don't make me hand out bans and/or close this down again.

I’m ok with that and will make adjustments if it doesn’t come. I think we haven’t even begun to see the economic fallout from this. My bigger play is in real estate but that’s gonna take some time

I think the more the government and fed try and intervene in the market the more trouble we're going to find ourselves in.

We basically have no European travel, no sporting events going on, schools and universities are closing, cruise lines are closed, large venues are canceled and the list goes on.

The cat's out of the bag, and all the rate cuts in the world are not going to excite most people to keep up their spending. Anyone with common sense is tightening their spending, which is why I say the feedback loop has started.

This isn't blowing over in a few weeks. I would not be impressed if one or more large failures in the coming months HSBC or Deutsche maybe Tesla, Uber? JC Penny

if this is the big panic happening that i have always heard about, everybody holding the green cash money and claims on that which is backed by nothing but the good faith and credit (i.e. bonds) are gonna get wiped out overnight, best to stay diversified owner with some gold coins for barter and wait for the new money to come out you still have a claim on ownership

cash is not safe in this environment!

I don't pretend to "know" but I wonder if all the interference doesn't sometimes have the opposite of the intended effect.

The market is basically a big voting machine. All the way up to our recent ATHs, prices defied any logical valuations. It seemed there was no mathematical support for the prices of many many stocks but it didn't matter. People were "voting" with their dollars. If most people think the market will go up, it will. If most people think the market will go down, it will. I really think it's that simple.

So when the fed or government steps in and tries to manipulate things, I wonder if it doesn't make a lot of people think "Oh my god, it's that bad that they need to step in? I'm out of here"

I feel like I am scolding one of my children... And I don't have any. I just hang my head like a disappointed father lol.

Alright, I feel as though I have clearly enough outlined what we can and can't do here for now. Play nice and I won't hurt anyone. For now.

Short term: voting machine just as you described.

Long term: weighing machine, where earnings are all that matters.

That's why good companies will always be good investments.

Cash is safe because it’s a tried and true currency that the common man has faith in. Unless we see hyperinflation I think cash is a great place to be in the short term

Our currency isn't backed by gold anymore, this is true. It is, however, backed by our military. That's how I see it. It will always have value as long as we're dominant.

It’s all good as long as people believe in it as a tool for exchange
