why would i if it isn't worth nothing anymore to purchase
i.e. the hyperinflation and eventual collapse of the greenback

 

It would take the collapse of the U.S. for that to happen. And you're going to have a lot bigger problems if that happens.

 

If the US dollar goes down, it's the end of the world as we know it.
Currency will be ammunition. Anarchy will be the new world order. Mad Max scenario.

Don't see it happening in our lifetimes. Won't matter if I'm wrong

 

This is exactly why you are seeing a sell off right now and why things are going to be F'd in the markets for a while. The virus was just the pin that popped this thing. Companies were buying back stock with profits to prop up the share price and financing capital projects. 11 yrs of stupid low interest rates from the fed caused this mess. Now we have a hiccup and all hell is breaking loose. Textbook malinvestment. I'm not buying anything until we get back down to around the 2016 dow levels like people are predicting or prices start stabilizing. The corporate bond market is completely ass backwards right now as well.

On a lighter note, as of noon today I'm officially a small business owner. My original business plan from 10days ago when I filed my LLC paperwork has already been thrown out the window with all these work from home policies LOL!!!

I can handle myself if that happens. But what would be the point of gold? I will take someone's gold with my lead if it comes down to that.

 

Same could be said about gold. What real value does it provide other than people believing in it’s worth

I get where you're coming from, but I am of the opinion that it's just a different rock, assigned value. The dollar is just a different piece of paper, assigned value. Neither are actually worth what food, water, shelter, etc. are worth to our survival.

 

If things are so bad that no one will except dollars than I sure as hell wouldn’t have a use for gold

Nope wont happen and people lose lots of money by getting conned into buying gold, silver. Just nonsense

 

but don't put all your eggs into a gold basket, that would not be a good idea!
maybe people will only accept silver for exchange of goods
