I was involved in a hit and run last night.. anyone else experience something like this and how much did it cost you?

I was even thinking about purchasing a new bumper and having it painted.

Also, any body shops you can recommend in southern California?

I’ve been fortunate enough to never have to deal with that. My wife has though on her front bumper but we never dealt with it. Interested as well to other’s experiences.

That sucks. It’s probably going to cost you exactly what your insurance deductible is... The only personal experience that i have with hit & runs is when some coward on TW starts talking shit, but then puts me on their ignore list before I have a chance to respond. That shit is aggravating.

To interject my own question, my wife’s is a lease. I assume we should get it fixed before the lease is up not to have to deal with any penalties?

If it was me, I’d use it as an excuse to get an aftermarket bumper.

I guess if your insurance works that way, for me I wouldn't want to pay my 1000 dollar deductible to get a 1000 dollar bumper lol

I mean I’d skip insurance. Again that’s just me. I personally want a hybrid bumper, but since my truck is less than a week old, I’m scared to cut anything. But if someone fucked up my bumper then ok I might as well make the upgrade. Again just speaking for myself.

Work it out from the back side with a heat gun and keep driving it.

Save the pro repair for the next time its hit and that way you'll feel like you got a two-fer

My vote is to go to a junkyard and find a Taco that was rear ended. Or like above, shell out the extra money for an aftermarket bumper for street cred

I work at a body shop in southern California. Your bumper and fender flare are both damaged. Your insurance rates should not increase since this was hit and run (not your fault).

I wrote a quick estimate and I'm at $1,435.00. If your deductible is $500, I'd consider using the insurance. If $1000, I'd likely handle it myself. You can PM me if you want more ideas/options.

Get your wife’s hair dryer and put it in high and start heating that plastic up and see how much will pop out, you’ll be surprised it may pop out and almost look like it didn’t get hit, then buff the marks off best you can may look pretty good when done .

First of all her profile says Female so I doubt she has a wife. 2nd thing, the damage has removed some paint and is down to bare plastic. While the dent might pop out, buffing won't remove all the damage you see.
