Well, Doc, it's been in the mid 80s in FL for a month.

FWIW, the spanish flu slowed down in the summer of 1918. Then it killed 200k people in the US in October.

Having a 10 week old infant at home, I'm glad to see that there are no reported fatalities of anyone under 9 years old. What concerns me the most about this is the potential for my daughter to get sick especially being that she's so young. Even if the virus seems to be less serious for children we still do not want her to be unwell, so we're doing everything we can to ensure that she stays healthy.

Our next biggest concern is that my wife owns and operates two Pilates studios in two different cities here in SoCal, with over a dozen employees not including instructors. It's looking like she may be forced to close them indefinitely. Neighboring town of Pasadena has already decided to cancel all "non essential recreational activities", so gyms and the like are closed. Just got an email from the local ice rink there that my hockey season is being postponed. The schedule sucked (11pm games) so I'm not exactly upset about that one lol

His interviews are usually pretty solid, he doesn't talk much, just asks questions and lets the expert speak.

The fun part is that if we do manage to squash the curve and prevent a major health care crisis, claims will fly that we overreacted and it wasn't that big of a deal.

Friendly reminder that shitposting in this thread will not be tolerated. Whole lotta posts deleted from this thread already and frankly it's getting old.

The minimum will be a reply ban. But certainly not limited to just that.

I believe it refers to when the virus isn't inside cells of living hosts, I read somewhere saying it's at 70+ degree C, not degree F that the virus will die out.

Debunked information being deleted might help as well. (E: mods are on top of this like always)

There's a note going around right now about the PNW being completely quarantined. It's fake. Don't spread FUD, don't cause already frightened and vulnerable people to further stress out and spend time and money doing things that there aren't a need for.

I feel you man. My daughter is 5.5 weeks old. It's a relief that children under 10 aren't getting effected , but I'm still concerned.

Not saying as a fact but heard a piece from a Japanese Doctor a good self check for most people Is to take a deep breath and hold it at least ten seconds, you should have no tightness of chest, coughing, or pain of any type. A side note, if you can find hand sanitizer or alcohol to make you own most mouth wash is over 20% alcohol

Good thread. The response is overblown for a reason. This is not like the flu - it's at least 20 times deadlier. Yes, deadlier for the elderly, but last time I checked they also count as human beings.

Only one thing can stop this pandemic: isolation of people. We are now in Stage-1 with most of the country cancelling public gatherings, schools, etc. Stage-2 will be the closing of business, retail, restaurants, etc. Stage-3 will be some kind of a curfew enforced by local police and the National Guard. The good news is that this MF of a virus can be eradicated in 2-3 weeks of complete isolation.

Unsubstantiated claims like this is what accelerates the misinformation that's being spewed all over the place. Instead of saying "heard a piece from XXX," how about you back it up with a fact based source.

    And for the record:
