Yeah my Alma Mater (UMaine) cancelled post Spring Break classes, hosting them online. For one, I think that's a smart move - spring break everyone goes every which way, international and whatnot, then comes back to congregate for a few weeks and then spreads as college students travel, etc. But still, talk about killing your education potential. My senior year after spring break I'd say 4 of 5 classes wouldn't work distance, not a chance. They'll probably cancel graduations too, heartbreaking for some families. I for one didn't even want to go to mine, but still, I know a lot of families and people who it was a huge life event they sacrificed a lot for.

Happy a lot of companies are rolling flexible hours, hell I just got an email that we can work from home, since you can't just have a 3rd grader at home alone while the parents are at work, etc. - when you're trying to maintain isolation, putting every kid together in daycare isn't a great idea. But for service industry, that's gotta be hard.

All of Berkshire County closed, but it was a district-by-district decision. So far there isn't a state-wide directive, nevermind a nation-wide one.

I don’t think it’s happening. Just freeing up money for aid and getting more tests it sounds.

So one thing that's both positive and amusing about this national panic came up last night.
For the last 10 years or so (ever since I started, really) the GF has looked askance at what she calls my 'bunker' of supplies in the basement, but last night we were sitting on the couch reading (or, I was reading, and she was rubbing on her phone) and she suddenly asked me "how long do you think we could stretch your supplies if we had to?"
    :woot:

So that led to a trip downstairs and a fairly in-depth discussion about what I had in inventory, what fuels went with what (lamp oil vs kerosene substitute vs white gas), my solar/dynamo-powered stuff, and also a refresher on how the switching valve for the hand pump and the transfer switch for the generator work. So now she's interested and is actually pretty enthusiastic about it all of a sudden, and she spent the rest of the evening thumbing through one of my non-electric living books.

All of the Worcester County Schools (including my kids school) are all closed for the next 2 weeks! The kids have to do their schoolwork from home.
We just got home from Walmart to buy both kids Chromebooks for their work. Walmart was completely sold out of toilet paper. After that we went to Marketbasket and they were all sold out of TP, bottled water and canned vegetables -soup. Freaking crazy!

Bellingham stores? My dad works for Walmart as an internal consultant to about 40 stores and said their online order pickup is backed up 2-3 days in majority of stores.

Been a crazy 48 hours. The wife and I were supposed to go to Vegas today for a surprise birthday party but cancelled last night. Prepping a little late but we should have enough stuff to last us a few months if need be.

That's a good way to get people out of the same aisle as you! clear out the area then grab what you need. Then do it again when you are waiting in line for the cash register. :D

I get wanting to stock up on supplies, etc., but is the expectation that grocery and home goods stores like Walmart are going to be closed along with everything else? Is it going to be that big of a deal to make a quick trip to the store in the next couple weeks to pick up toilet paper if you need it? What am I missing?

I walk into BJs today and saw the check outline at about 4:30 and turned around.

I have enough until everyone is contended, in a few, then I'll go peak.

A representative from Walmart was there with the President and he said they were going to keep the stores open and keep the products coming in at good prices.

BTW, I forgot to mention that everyone was out of milk. How do you stock up on milk? Milk goes bad! o_O
