I have never heard drone from it.

It’s fine. Looks good. Sounds OK. I personally would only add it to a MT.

Intake isn’t going to give much if any power (if anything a few at high RPM) but even a higher flow filter can improve the throttle response very noticeably in my experience.

Intake on my ford ranger made a huge difference in throttle response, even though it was cable throttle.

Love mine. Bought it during the trd sale. Well worth it. Love the low end growl and grunt. Of course as always you get a lot of haters . They just love to hate ( they can’t afford one lol ) . I definitely feel the improvement in low end torque due to my mashing the pedal to hear the nice growl lol. Btw no drone.

Take your $799 and go buy the OVTune instead.

Thats also true, i could have spent the money on the tune but my truck drives great and i just need more noise, the stock exhaust is silent. I prefer to have some noise with MT, i ordered borla exhaust, we will see how good it will sound.

Also, im not sure on the longevity of tuned 3.5, as im planning to keep her for at least 10 years.

Spend your money on what you want to spend it on. Ask two armchair mechanics, get four different answers - fwiw, I think your money is better spent elsewhere, but it's your money.

They drone cruising around parking lots. It's the nature of a V6. I'd rather a quiet muffler.

The 4runners now have them on the Pro and its awful.

My TRD exhaust cat back was installed in my truck when i bought it before i took delivery of it.. I had a 99 Tacoma with manual transmission in which also had the TRD exhaust, so i figured i will have it on my new third gen Tacoma.. I like the mellow sound it has.. Never had any of the two trucks on a dino after installing the cat backs, so i could not tell you if there are any real power gains..

you call it drone I call it low end growl which I love. Sounds great if you’re outside and a tacoma with a trd exhaust drives by .

Never said it increases power compared to stock exhaust, just that it increases power. Reminds me of a business law class example where Ford (I think) was sued by Chevy for claiming their truck interiors were 600% quieter. Ford won because they based the 600% claim on outside noise vs inside noise, not Chevy vs Ford interior noise. Its all about riding that fine line between false advertising and fancy wording.

Don't purchase it if only looking for an increase in power. I've had mine over a year and like it very much, so worth the $$ to me.
It's gives a nice deep tone without being obnoxiously LOUD. Does not drone like many aftermarket units do. Also gives the illusion of more power even though I don't believe it actually does.
Looks great too and should last for practically forever with it's stainless steel construction.

I haven’t heard of someone refer to any kind of exhaust drone as something you hear outside of the cabin. It’s an unnerving hum from resonance that transmits through the inside of the cabin. You can’t even hear the TRD Pro exhaust inside the cabin when you’re low rpms unless it was right after a cold start. Also it’s due to the shape and size of the entire exhaust, the 4 Runner TRD exhaust and the one on the Tacoma don’t even sound the same...different engine and dimensions.

V6's sound like crap, its not the size or tech, they just have a natural drone to them. A performance muffler just exposes this.

My neighbor has a f150 ecoboost that sound 1000x worse than any Tacoma, but again its a v6.

I've driven every pro and many exhausts on the Tacoma. I'd rather hear mud terrain tire noise.

It’s standard on my TRD PRO, I added the TRD air box and I enjoy hearing the truck, but that’s all I know. I have ridden in other Tacomas with standard exhaust, and feel like I’m in a Camry, because you hear nothing. You can probably get a similar or better sounding system for less, but you’ll have to research.

    Mostly dust and dirt.
So the take away here is that it’s pretty much just for sound.

I love the power and sound from my Gibson. On exhaust I've ever heard not drone.

I love the way mine sounds, I wouldn’t have a Tacoma without it. Maybe you can test drive a PRO if you see one in a lot, then you’ll know.

    OME and worth every penny.
There are a couple of V6's in the world that sound pretty good. Toyota doesn't make them.
