    Hi all

Im a school teacher and our school in CT is closed for at least two weeks minimum. I was planning a cross-country trip to see America (the real parts anyway, where the Flag is still flown proudly) in the summer but Im thinking I may do it now.

Pros/Cons? I see the National Parks are still open.

Thanks in advance for any constructive advice.

I would think most high elevation roads thoughout the rockies in the national parks are closed right now. How about the South or southwest.

Going to the Sun road in Glacier is for sure closed, but other parts might be interesting. And most of the grass in the north end of the country is still brown. But - south would be good. Big Bend NP in TX is a favorite, then swing up through Carlsbad, see NM, then go to Utah? Lots of options that way, and it won't be ridiculously hot this time of year.

Come on out. Still some great places to adventure. You only live once...

Wyoming weather can be “sporty” this time of year. Please come prepared. I have stayed out overnight in WY a few times due to weather coming in fast and the high winds.
Wyoming wins socks are logging chains.

That's not hyperbole either. Especially I-80, where I can hear a few truckers on the HAM bands talking about their trailers going airborne in the crosswinds.

Yellowstone is closed. Montana has current mandatory quarantine for 2 weeks for out of state folks.

I did my trip to Maine, Ill go out West this summer. Thanks for the info. I honestly believe parks should be open during this, it's outdoors and folks can distance.

Even though schools are closed aren't you supposed to be checking work and helping kids through Google classroom? My son still has daily interaction with his teachers...unless you teach shop class.

Gas is cheap, I'd do the southern states with the current weather. Wyoming will f you up if you are not prepared.

I went to Maine mostly during the weekend when this first hit and no one had a plan, as you can see from my post in early March. Now yes, we work with kids daily. School may end sooner than June 15, we are waiting to hear from the Governor.

I to would like parks open. The problem with opening is the volume of people, protecting park workers. They tried to stay open with limited staff and services. The results were people left garbage everywhere, and you can imagine what people did with closed restrooms. Most people in this county don’t know how to pick up after themselves. I would rather see them closed , than see them damaged.
