Does anyone know if the height specification for the DCSB model given on the Toyota website includes the shark fin roof radio antenna?

    1794 mm (70.6 in)

Reason I am asking is that there is an underground parking lot I want to use that advertises 6 foot clearance.

Another way to ask this is, did you ever drive your Taco into a 6 foot parking garage, and were there any noises?

    EDIT:

First, note that my truck is a 2018 TRD Sport manual transmission dual cab short bed. It's an unusual configuration, has 17" wheels from the factory and mine is running on aftermarket winter tires (265/65R17 Blizzak DM-V2). The winter tires are the same nominal size as the factory-supplied all-season tires where I am in Canada.

My static measurement was 1814 mm on the winter wheels, or in the 1811 range if I take into account where the plumb bob ended up. I have a set of 265/70R17 KO2s on TRD Pro rims that will raise the truck a nominal 11.6mm in the summer.

In the end, because 6 feet is about 1828 mm, I would have only 14 mm of nominal clearance. Because the dynamic envelope goes higher than the static measurement, it would be a really bad idea to drive into a garage advertised as having 6 feet of clearance. You might be okay, but you might have a really bad day when you tag the overhead sewer pipe.

    I measured using this method:

    1. Back truck into garage, suspend plumb bob over shark fin antenna to locate where to suspend plumb bob. I made a mark on the horizontal member of the garage door opener.
    2. Drive truck out of garage.
    3. Mount plumb bob, lower it to ground and make an aiming mark.
    4. Back truck into garage, suspend plumb bob from the mark. I ended up about 3 mm above the shark fin, see picture.
    5. Drive truck out of garage.
    6. Use Bosch laser measuring tool to find distance between tip of plumb bob and the mark I made on the floor.

Laser tool shows 1814 mm. Claimed accuracy is around +/- 2mm.

Measure YOUR truck yourself. When I originally bought my truck, I measured and decided that 6 feet was the minimum clearance that I was comfortable with. You need to do the same, rather than depending on others.

What was your procedure? I think it is pretty safe to rely on the manufacturer's statement as long as it includes the antenna. I am more worried about the garage's 6 foot figure.

    Step 1: Grab tape measure.
Step 2: Walk outside to truck.
    Step 3: Measure.

Laugh it up but your idea that you can do it with your Home Depot tape measure is amusing.

I know I am slightly taller than my truck. So if I can walk under it, I can drive under it.

    Stock for now.. maybe
Can always use a 4' level and a tape measure. 2 person job , one using the level with one end of level on top of shark fin.. other person on the tape measure, on flat ground of course. But easiest way would be to see if truck hits the height 'clearance stops' in gararge. Builders dont usually build build parking garages stock vehicles cant use so you're probably good but you're right to double check

Well if you're more comfortable using a tape measure from Lowe's, then use that.

Really, it ain't like rocket surgery to measure and KNOW how high your truck is.

I just think it will be hard to get 3 measurements within 10 mm of each other to confirm the 1794 mm figure, even with the bubble level technique, which is the best idea so far. There is friction in bubble levels, they are not precision tools - if you play with one you'll see that you can vary quite a bit from horizontal without moving the bubble.

My truck has tires that raise the truck 11.6 mm, so I am in the 1806 mm range.

My truck would only have 22 mm of clearance in a 6 foot garage if the 1806 mm height is correct. It's not a lot.

Laser level, just touching the top of the fin and then a tape measure on the side. That should be pretty accurate

    All the things!
How much wear you got on those tires? Are they completely aired up? How much PSI? Are the rims hot or cold? Have we accounted for thermal expansion of the aluminum? Did you measure during the day? Or at night? Was the moon's gravity reducing Earth's gravitational pull?

Dude, use a level and a tape measure. It will be plenty accurate. You should also keep in mind, garage heights are measured loosely. Construction of a parking garage is not precision work...

This thread stinks of a Friday troll thread. Why would a factory spec help you with oversized tires?

Place a straight edge, perhaps a 12 ft 2 x 4 across your roof. Measure to the bottom of the 2x4, measure the height of your shark fin antenna and add the two together.

Set one of these laser levels on a ladder or shelf and position it so that the laser line is touching the top of the shark fin.

Measure from the ground to laser line using a tape measure.

    You’re done.

Exactly. You're compounding errors and expecting a tolerance of sub 10mm. Drive the MF in there and move on w life. How is this an issue?
