I'm begging you, please tell me the simpliest and most inexpensive way to hear music from my HTC Evo phone through my '06 Taco's stock 6-disk JBL system. I don't need to charge it, I don't need to control it from my stereo or steering wheel. Just play. I pulled the unit hoping to see "Aux Input" or something in big fat letters on the back, but no such luck. (Pic of rear of unit is attached.)

Yes, I know there are a trillion questions, answers, stickies already on this topic. I've looked at roughly a billion of them and, God help me, I'm still confused. Everything seems geared for the iPod or gets way too involved for what little "free" time I have. I've got three young'uns and that means I'm doing this around schedules for soccer, ballet, Scouts, piano, basketball, etc, etc. I just want a little music while rolling from one place to the next.

Please don’t anybody get ticked off and think I’m asking you to rehash complete installation instructions – I’m not. I’m just asking for the executive summary and recommended parts. (I'll even take the executive summary of the executive summary!) Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
    -Scott

Don't you have a aux input? The plug should be at the lower portion of the center console next to the cigarette lighter plug. You should just have to use a 3.5mm headphone plug between the phone and the aux input.

At least thats the way it was in my 2010.

x2 ^ My 09 has the same plug. If you don't have it, a FM modulator would work. I think I've seen some that take a 3.5mm plug, then just tune your stereo to a dead station and it should play through.

    Good luck

Thanks for the ideas, but unfortunately I don't have an auxiliary input. As for the FM modulator, a coworker of mine had one and said it absolutely sucks for those of us who have a long commute in the L.A. area where you have to repeatedly find "new" dead stations between Point A and Point B. He has a shorter commute than I and he said he'd have to change stations about three times on the way to/from work.

I know the USASpec PA15 will work but it just seems like that's more than I need, esp since I'm not using an iPod. Maybe that's my only choice??

I think the iPod adpator I have is the cheapest one out there, but since your not using an iPod its not going to do you any good.

    Shark,
What's so crappy about the stereo? I was wondering why so many people change them out. Maybe I just have low standards?? :)

i just installed one of these. i really dig it.

i went with the one that has the USB, Ipod control, and the 3.5 mm input.

sound is great through the 3.5 as well as the volume.

i don't have an ipod and never will, but i wanted the usb.

you can get just the 3.5 for much less than the one i bought.

    good luck with your search!

It sounds like crap and has no balls. That said, a big part of the problem is the speakers. But if you are going to replace the speakers, you will need some more power, thus the hu has to go.

PAT: Thanks very much! They have one on clearance for 50 bucks that looks perfect for my needs.

SHARK: Thanks for the follow-up. I guess I really do have low standards. (So much for my application to the local audiophile club.) :D Anyway, aside from not having the dough to replace all that, my hearing sucks already and getting a HU with more power would go to waste.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

buy a new radio from a 09-11 with the aux input. they go for about 60 bucks here, that's probably your cheapest option
