I’m super geeked about this. One of my favorite features of the 2020 models was the inclusion of CarPlay (at OEM equipment) and the Qi (wireless) charging pad. That said, I’m disappointed that it lacked the ability to support the newer wireless CarPlay connection. Here’s a way to solve for that.

The CPLAY2Air adapter (https://carplay2air.com/) plugs into the USB port and when the unit is turned on, it provides an interface on the actual head unit to configure and connect ones iPhone through Bluetooth to support wireless CarPlay. It’s small, easy to setup, and thus far, appears to “just work”. Now I can cut the cord and use the Qi pad for phone charging when needed.

I’m not thrilled with the location and have a 90 degree USB adapter that will be delivered to allow a better positioning, but I’m still planning to fix the small CPLAY2Air adapter in the same general vicinity.

Is there possibly a way to hard wire behind the dash for a cleaner look ?

Just received it yesterday and was thinking about that exact thing. One might be able to just relocate the actual USB port behind the switch panel not only hiding the wireless unit, but also freeing up another switch port on the console.

I like it!! It’s too bad the USB ports in the center console are only for charging.

The new Android 10 OS now supports wireless connection with the new Entune 3 system, no App required - Android Auto is built right into both the Android 10 OS and the Entune 3 system.
Problem is they just recently pushed an Android system update that killed this functionality. Evidently they are now in the process of pushing out another system update that fixes the previous system update, and restores this functionality.

This is very cool, I like it. It would be a very easy upgrade to change out the USB in the center console to function like the USB on the dash. It could also be used to hide the module is the same way by adding an additional USB port that could be hidden under the dash.

Curious...does anyone have any info on whether or not this CPLAY2Air solution would work with a CarPlay add-on like the Beat-Sonic solution?
If it would, it would also make the Beat-Sonic a wireless CarPlay option for those who choose to keep the OEM head unit.

Nice find. Can you still do calls and other stuff you would normally do via bluetooth?

I’ve been running errands today and in and out of the truck several times. I’m not even taking my phone out of my pocket and it just starts up and works. No complaints or issues thus far.

nice... added to the list to buy...

Think I saw some other product out there that also mirrors your iPhone (but it could be android auto on non OEM info system)

I saw something similar. With screen mirroring, I’d be terrified that my lady would turn that screen into another Dr Phil all-the-time display. Nope; it wasn’t worth the risk. o_O

Looking at the site, I think they mean it allows you to use your Apple phone wirelessly with CarPlay with a head unit that is based on Android, not use it for connecting an Android phone for AA wirelessly. Hopefully that makes sense, but basically the jist of it is it doesn't help with Android Auto (wireless or otherwise), from what I understand.
