Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place, I looked around the forums and couldn't really find a good answer to my question

I have a 2017 trd pro, got it for a great buy(listed as a sport).

I would like to add a lift kit to get some more clearance and dont want to compromise the suspension lift it came with.

I'm still a novice when it comes to the mechanical aspects of trucks, but this forum is teaching me a lot.

My question, is the lift kit attached a viable option or is this one of those suspension spacer kits that would reduce the lifespan of my suspension?

Are u sure it was a pro and not pro badging? Didju do a vin lookup to confirm? Everyone on here is gonna say no to the spacer lift.

@Skydvrr It is a pro, checked the vin, and had all the upgrades that come with the pro. Fox shocks, leather interior, etc.

The dealership was pretty upset about it and changed the listing to a pro from sport 2 hours after I made an appointment to check the truck the next day.

I’d do a VIN check to double check it’s a PRO. If it is a PRO stick with the FOX setup it should already have on.

Nice! Lucky find. If u hit the quote button to the bottom right of a comment you want to reply to, it'll make it easier to see and organize.

I say you leave the stock foxes alone and see how they do. Pretty capable as is

Dealers do this all the time to trick people into thinking they got a deal, unless you bought it from a second hand dealer.

Enjoy your truck and stay away from spacers. You paid for the Pro stuff, use it!

    Thanks!

Yeah I don't want to compromise the stock foxes at all. But a buddy was telling me I could add this to them without having an issue. Again I am not good at tech questions yet, hoping to change that.

I thought it sounded like a suspension spacer and did some digging to find out that's not good and mainly astethic.

So is there something I could do without compromising it to get more clearance?

Well you're not really gaining that much "clearance" your axle is still at the same hieght.

The reason I want to do it is so I can go to a bigger tire size

You can use shims and bump it up a little but don’t add that spacer on top....bigger tires get your clearance.

for the rear put a AAL or new leaf pack

To do it right, it'll take quite a bit of coin. U can go one size up with no issue.

Actually, the pro stuff was free. :)

I’ve been running spacers for thousands of miles along with who knows 10’s or 100’s of thousands of others with Tacoma’s without issues (probably many millions over time on all vehicles over many decades). So yes, spacers are an option.

OP, what you will find on TW, is people tend to only recommend what they have done while diminishing other options.

OP- like others have said, you can go larger without the lift. Another size larger (285) will typically require a cmc (cab mount chop) and not always more lift. Bigger would be more trimming and possible lift needed. Tire size is less determined by lift with a Tacoma then other trucks. It’s more about how much trimming and fender well modification you want to do.
