Can confirm. This was a couple weekends ago and I'm sure it's got even more since then.

North Mills River campground is great. If your are looking for something on the way, Cold Spring Creek Rd off of I-40 has some spots that are free.

Coming in through Cherokee National Forest the scenic route and getting in late to something free would be preferable

Theres a ton of campsites that are less than 1/2 mile from the road if you decide you want to tent camp

Probably not. Most of the gates in Pisgah were closed when I was riding this weekend. But there are spots on YG before you get to gates.

Thanks! I was a little bummed not being able to get in. I need to get back into camping mode! Starting to suffer withdrawals!
I ended up on 105 that trip and got sleeted on.Of course it is going to be damp and chilly the next couple days-may end up on a day ride tomorrow or Tuesday?

Hey guys, I am in Greenville, SC and am looking for recommendations for good forest service roads to do some RTT camping in. Curious if the best/closest place to look would be the South side of Pisgah or if there were any options you had seen closer.

    Thanks!

105 is going to be your standard answer. Pisgah had a lot of roads (Avery and Yellow Gap anyway) gated off when I was there a couple weeks ago. Probably due to weather so may be back open now.

Thanks! Old NC 105 is on my to-do list. Have heard some awesome things about it.

I usually camp at horse pasture road out by Jocassee. That is about 1.5 hours to get a campsite. Just seeing if I can find something closer now that I have a RTT and am working from home. Wanting to camp a few nights a week haha.

Yep that was me! I was down there last weekend. It was awesome but it was packed since everything else is closed.

I don’t actually have one open yet, but I’ll be getting it this weekend! Met the guy in Charlotte to pick it up. He said it had only been slept in 3 nights which I agree with, it looks brand new inside and out!

Looks great. Having it low down like that is sooo nice. Especially with the dogs.

Agreed man! I love being able to pull into the garage with it. And my lab is 85-90 pounds, so being able to stand on my cooler and lift him in is so nice.

Really excited to get our first night out in this thing

Off topic, but how does the tri-fold tonneau work with the rtt & bed bars?
