V6 OR vs V6 Sport with air damn also has the same mpg rating. Especially since the OR also includes a rear locker and Crawl Control system.

    I've been asking the same....

I'm just leaving my dam on until it's ripped off, as nature intended.

Me too. Unfortunately it is tougher than it looks. Several snow drifts this year and it isn't even bent. Might have to do something drastic!

I took mine off but then I cut it down in height and length and put it back on. It looks like shit under there with the dam off. C0CE56AF-DF48-4F75-AB62-BB58246C1C75.jpg

Wrong & wrong. I’m guessing you’re taking these numbers from Toyota’s website, rather than window stickers. Under-air dams are usually good for one mpg.
These are manual transmission vehicles in the picture, so they get less mpg due to the gearing. Curiously, Pro’s are rated for similarly bad mpg even with the automatic

Since the cars are tested in laboratories on a dyno the aerodynamic effects are limited. From what I understand the load settings used to calibrate the dyno are based on the data derived from an on road coast down test so the effect of a lower air dam is extremely small.

Some shit on it would probably make it look better. It needs a skid plate to cover that crap up.

I never said AT and MT are rated the same or anything about Toyota website and window stickers.

But you did say that this:
Which the window stickers i showed disprove. TRD sport m/t: 21 highway. TRD Off-road m/t, 20 highway. Same drivetrain, difference in tires, air dam and hood scoop. I’d assumed, improperly it would seem, that you’d gotten your belief from the Toyota website, since as of last April when i bought mine, it didn’t differentiate.

OP, you didn’t differentiate between 2wd and 4wd either. The EPA numbers for certain groups and sub models are averaged, I believe.

The more aggressive tires and lack of air dam on an OR shaves off an MPG or so. But it’s hard to really tell for us “end-users” because a driver’s foot can make a 5mpg difference.

My air dam is sitting on my garage wall. That pegboard is getting fantastic milage at the minute. Too bad that the license plates that are hanging on it are expired though.

From my own experience and many post on TW Toyota likely underestimated there mph on the sticker with many reporting 22-24 mpg.
I have TRD Sport removed air dam within hours and get better mpg than rated on window sticker. Unlike Ford Ranger where Ford had to hire a third party tester before being sued and recounting there mpg rating.

Does the Automatic version show the same difference on the window sticker? If not then the difference would not be spoiler related.

I’m not sure, i was only looking for a manual at the time. I guess there are a couple more differences, sport to offroad - tires, air dam, rear differential size & locker mechanism, vacuum or power boost brakes/traction control... Shocks shouldn’t do anything, mpg-wise. Kind of surprising it only makes the 1 mpg difference, eh?

Dam, all this time I thought the air dam was a modesty item.

Got bored. Took off air dam. Do mostly town driving and brave those dirt roads with a little mud sometimes. Hasn't seem to affected anything and I still get good mileage.

Welp. They gonna have to CATCH that pegboard if they wanna serve up a ticket.

My pegboard is holding a dam and a sway bar.
