My set arrived today. First impressions, the box with hangers/shackles was WAY heavier than I expected it to be!

These things are pure, unadulterated beef.

The best part was the packaging. I want to order more stuff from @JLee just so I can unwrap it.

@cdex8357 Looks like a bit of shaving needs to be done on the second leaf. What do you think

I'm so fed up with this hanger... I've spent at least an hour trying to get the lower shackle bolt to engage. Why did @JLee make the nut fixed and hidden? This would be so much easier if it was open on the back side and the nut was visible. Now, being even a mm off means the bolt won't engage.

About to get back to it, but I'm about to throw a wrench.

I was able to get it using a jack under the axle.

Finally got it shortly after this post. Had to jam a bolt in my deep 13/16 socket, so I could put pressure on the bolt while turning it with a screw gun... finally got it to catch. I'd still prefer a non-captive nut.

    For future purposes...

Assemble the shackles and hangers to leaf springs while the leafs are out of the truck. That way you can easily assemble everything together off of the truck and without the weight of fighting the leaf spring. After the leaf is installed, it’s much easier to swing the shackle and hanger into position to bolt the hanger onto the frame.

Not sure adding the weight of the hanger to the end of the leaf would help my wimpy ass get it in place... unless you mean bolt the front eye to the truck, then attach the hanger and jack into place...

Ultimately, it's not a 1 man job and I should have had an assistant. I just struggled to move the leaf around and find the nut on the hanger. Oh well, all done now and I don't foresee myself f**king with it again.

The easiest way to do it is mount the shackles to the hangers then to the spring, then attach the whole assembly to the truck. IF you bolt the hanger to the truck first you will be fighting the springs.

Springs over the axle inverted, then flipped and bolted to the front hanger. Then attach the shackle/hanger and lift the whole axle to get the shackle/hanger into the right spot is the easiest way I've found.

Is this only if you're replacing the springs? Or is there some reason to disconnect the springs from the front hanger otherwise?

Not yet. Shitty weather. I’m gonna shave the 2nd leaf. It’s just a few mm on each side so no big deal.

Only if you're replacing springs. Otherwise leave the ubolts and front hanger alone.

You can still use the axle to lift the hanger though
