    Well....

This is true in my case. I run a slide in camper w/ a furnace. In the event the slide in battery goes tits up I’ll be able to draw off the truck. The voltage booster also boots charging to the “house battery”.

    +1

Also at 14.xx Volts I have brighter lights than I would without the AGM.

An AGM battery is a much better choice for "rough" driving - such as off-road. The bumping, bouncing and excessive vibration are not the best for the typical wet cell battery.

I know, plenty of you will say you have a "normal" battery, and it does just fine. Maybe so. In my case, many years ago, I was 20 miles from a paved road, and when I tried to start my truck the battery case split. As a result, all my replacement batteries since then have been AGM batteries.

Yes, I have had an AGM fail in the woods as well - but it was a Red Top, manufactured after production moved south, so I fault the manufacturing process, not the battery design.

Your observation is interesting, but anecdotal. This forum is also "full" of satisfied customers from at least 9 highly successful GBs through which almost 400 Northstar AGMs were purchased over the past five years.

I can't speak to others' experience, since I don't know what they installed, how they installed it, or how they maintained it. I do know AGMs have different charging requirements, as explained in this thread, and they don't like excessive heat. I also know mine's still going strong over 3yrs after install, along with most of the nearly 400 others purchased via GB. I'm comfortable with those "real world experiences" proving the advantages I listed.

If you don't want one, don't buy one, but you have no business telling others what we "don't need" for our vehicles.

Little bit of this and a little bit of that but stock af.
That may be true with my current setup but I purchased the battery knowing that I will be adding a wench in the near future. I understand why I’m not capable of fully charging the battery at the moment. But thought how new the battery is, was hoping that I shouldn’t have that issue so soon, but I was wrong.

I understand what I need to do and hope that clears your concerns about how I spend my money.

A lot of us don’t need a agm but wanted one so we got one I don’t understand your issue with it. They perform better overall don’t get the nasty seeping stains on them, generally have a better warranty then a oem style battery and they can be had for 200 not necessarily does someone need a northstar.

When people say the lights are brighter with this mod, are they referring to exterior lights or interior lights also (instrument cluster, radio, etc.)?

Noticed my headlights a tad brighter and stock speakers louder as well but nothing drastic.

I'm looking for information and am curious to know what's your plan to charge your AGM battery besides the alternator of course.

    CTEK or Genius Boost?

I'm not familiar with that exact model, but make sure you get one that has a specific AGM mode. Again, for the higher voltages that AGM batteries want vs standard flooded lead acid

Edit.. It does have an AGM mode
