I bought a new 2020 tacoma trd pro and went to try out the crawl control uphill and its not working only works on flat area when you try uphill it want to engage but the truck doesnt move at all just stays there tried it in all speeds wont work

I know how to use it but its not working
Go in Neutral go to low 4 engage then drive than engage crawl low speed also high all speeds wont move wont engage crawl control even thought its engage

its in the toyota service department anyone knows what the problem is what toyota had to do to fix the problem

I noticed the exact same thing in my 2020 TRD OR and a second 2020 OR on the test drive. 4Lo and a bit of an incline it would climb until the truck was entirely on the hill (rear wheels a few feet up), then comes to a stop. If I left it attempting to climb, it will shut down the CC system after 20 or so seconds. Both trucks I test drove acted exactly the same. The salesman was surprised when it would not climb the hill that he uses to show off the 4WD system with his customers.

I've tested it a couple of other times since and my truck will not climb like the various review videos out there showing off the CC "feature".

Crawl control is a gimmick, but it's not meant to carry you up a hill while you steer.

I used only on flat and as a downhill assist. Most of the time I used 4Lo with MTS or the Locker.

What speed select? You have to be in 2 or above, I think. Try this. I don’t think it will climb at speed setting 1.

Also, foot on brake or accelerator intervenes the crawl control.

and, sorry if it is not working. That sucks.

It does work in flat areas, though? Weird. Take it in.

I haven't pursued it. I've only tested on the test drive in Oct and a couple of times since. I've wheeled for long enough without CC to not be too bothered by it not working, but it should function as advertised.

I've tried all speed setting, no brakes, no accelerator, just set it and let the truck do its thing. It travels across flat ground, starts up the hill, slows to a stop and sits there until CC cancels. Even after it cancels, it'll just sit there as the hills I've tried it on aren't steep enough to roll back down.

I haven't checked any longer descents, but it seems like it works for that.

He said he took it in. Last thing from me, is you have to make sure 4 lo engages first, or CC won’t. The CC graphic will pop up when it is engaged.

Sounds like the OP did everything in correct order, which is important, but have to make sure 4-lo engages, then brake, then D or R, then push CC button, graphic or info will come up, then if it works, it sounds like it’s broken.

Nope. Got me out when I was stuck in a rut in a steep hill climb. Thought I was going to have to get winched out, but worked like magic.

This is what I was thinking too. Getting in 4 low takes sec and space, even more if you're on a steep incline/decline.
OP, try turning on CC before approaching incline/decline, and see if it works?
