Hi, machinist here.... Do you actually know how to mount and read a finger or 1" travel indicator?

 

i havent watched the robin hood movie since i was a little kid at grandmas. but damnit the song whistle stop is constantly finding its way stuck in my head for days at a time. like right now.,

 

"machinist" mill some calipers for me. 3.5mm off the ears.

its to account for a shallower rotor.

rather machine the caliper instead of the spindle.

 

Hope they don't need to be replaced ever, that kinda annoying to do on short notice.

ive got a sequoia master sourced and a adapter to make it fit. next step is rear discs and the larger front calipers. Why? because i want to make the tundra stop on a dime when towing.

 

Tow a trailer with good trailer breaks, that'll cost less and work better and safer.

i also have to replace the calipers on the tundra anyway. so fuck it. guy sells the calipers already machined for 350 no core... may just go that route.

 

Good trailer breaks are super helpful, especially when towing something that weighs in at about the same as your truck. I still don't know how our trucks got rated for 5000 pounds too.

 

Three thou and a couple tenthousandths runout on a rotor is very minimal. Face turning would leave you with about that usually, only way to true those up is Blanchard grinding
