It actually is....I looked it up. The ST Maxx on a 265/70 17 is 31.9" and the 255/75 17 is 31.8".

Tire rack and Cooper website itself confirmed it.

This kinda reminds me of when me and a buddy agree to disagree about .1mm making a phone screen bigger. :stirthepot:

Your arguement was that it was doubtful that the 255/75 17 was larger than the 265/70 17 because it was a "true 32"......I would agree with you in all other cases other than this one. You can go to any website you want to give you any numbers you want.....but go to the source. The cooper website lists "ON THE ACTUAL TIRE MANUFACTURER WEBSITE", not discount tire, that the 255 is actually smaller than the 265. This is a fact. Nothing more to argue about.Screenshot_20200314-231313_Chrome.jpg

Picked up some skinny 33s for a steal and mounted them on some 17s. I like the look, still gotta clearance the fenders though

Are skinnies worth the time without regearing?

Hey! Did you ever go through with putting that size on your spare and stuffing that thing up under there?

Trick question but I'll try to answer. Regearing is better for any bigger tire above a 32", but "some" of the skinnies can be less weight then the same diameter of 285.

I think with the newer SL and C rated 285s showing up the tall skinnies are now mostly losing the weight battle.

It’s been a long time since I ran skinny’s on anything, but as far as Tacoma’s go the only real argument seems to be rubbing and appearance. All the other debates seem to come down to personal perception or preferences.

I did just order 255/75/17 over a 265/70/17. But really 1/2” should minimally noticed so my decision was price based.

And in 16” there’s the Toyo CT. But it’s 61 lbs still.

Good to hear. Your truck helped me decide to go 17 with the 255/75/17. My indecision actually caused me to order both 16s and 17s in the same wheel. Guess I’ll be returning the 16s.
