Ok. So, If you don’t want to pull your entire dashboard out, the pass side Door panel should plug into the 1998 harness. The drivers side will need to be swapped out, but you’ll need to change your speaker wiring in the new harness to the old speaker wires from the 1998 harness. Also, you’ll need to move 1 pin (DM me for which one) for it all to work with the new door harness. Can’t help you move the power mirrors as my truck doesn’t have that feature yet. Best of luck!

I hadn’t read the Tom woods article, that certainly helps! So then I need to take an angle measurement directly off of the center bearing and adjust the working angle of the u-joint at the pinion to match it? Or set the angle of the pinion itself to match that of the center bearing?

I found this video a few days ago, it certainly helped things click more than they had before! I think I’m making things overly complicated and have gotten too buried in the geometry of it all.

What I got from the other vid is the its supposed to be set so that it makes them all within 1/2 of a degree of each other. When you move the lower it will affect the upper angle too. But its supposed to be at max load. I don't know it that weight or torque.

If you want to get into the details of it, take the angle of the center bearing mounting point, add 90 degrees to it, subtract 1-2 degrees, and that’s the angle you want your pinion flange to be at.

You will probably need to add a 3 degree shim under the leaf packs to get into that 1-2 degree range.

Shockingly, I didn’t spend all weekend wrenching, and actually used the damn thing. Full disclosure - there was a third gen with me. Just scooted around Browns Camp in Tillamook Forest.

You know what’s funny? The whole Jeep thing, or whatever brand people rally behind to look down their noses at those who don’t belong. Lotta interesting vibes out there, but heck we’re all out there to get a little scared, muddy and (try not to) break stuff.

Wave and smile more! Feels good and stuff. Preaching to the choir here, TW folks are pretty solid.

I've tried a 3 degree shim, and still had about the same amount of vibration. That's why i've tried to dig into the science/geometry of it to try and solve the issue. I'll start over tomorrow working directly with the carrier bearing and the pinion flange.

I had a vibration once and it turned out to be a dry cardon joint. I greased the ball and the vibration hasn't been back.

I’ve already been through that as well. Replaced all u-joints, replaced CB, greased Cardin joint and made sure that is was in good shape. Even had DS balanced.

Ordered up some Bilstein shocks, and one more try ordering the no longer made rear trim panel for my regular cab since I found another site touting it for sale..

We'll see if this time's the charm!

Thanks for the info! I know the illustration above shows the model with speaker, but I am looking for without speakers in charcoal.

Forgot which dealer it was last time I ordered this thing that had it listed, but after I ordered it they cancelled and let me know they were not available.. so maybe my efforts are futile, but I have not lost hope yet!!

Thanks a bundle, they had the charcoal installation clips listed too, so I did grab those as well in theory!

I have not even seen a picture of this part, would you happened to know if it carpet or plastic?!!

Just figured it would look nicer and provide a bit of insulation over the bare metal, and I may add some further sound deadening underneath to quiet up the ride somewhat.

Deleted the rear proportioning valve. She’s rusted out. My buddy’s gave out at Christmas, a long ways from home, and he managed to limp it home, but no brakes. Mine was close to failing out, and there’s no bleeding it, or anything, so delete it is.

Ahhh thanks for the video, that sure looks nice!

Too bad they already cancelled my order for the trim panel AND the seat tracks, letting me know they are all discontinued and no longer available of course... not sure why so many websites cant keep their inventory up to date?!

I guess the panel is going to have to come from a wrecked 4x4 or Preunner regular cab 01-04, I will keep a lookout - thanks again!!
