yeah, no reason for watercooling this unit except that I like to build cool stuff. It's just going to become my new desktop since my other one is almost 10 years old.

Well, I guess it’s time to start shopping for a new case.
My cheap case that I bought is a thermal limit for my setup, CPU temp was low 90’s this morning after running Folding all night, scaled it back and down clocked to drop the temp to the mid 80’s and had it sitting at 85 and decided to pull the side panel, now 3 minutes later we’ve dropped 7 Celsius and we may be going a little lower than that.

No but you could run it for 2hrs on low power if you are so concerned. Since your $1000 gpu is so amazing it will make quick work of it.
    Right? Lol

Doesn't your $1000 GPU make you enough money on twitch? I mean that's the entire reason that you bought it right? Lol

The Lian Li 011 Dynamic and one of the Phanteks cases (i forget the model number) are both good options

Those are way more case than he probably needs. The 011 is for playing "how many radiators, fans, and RGB strips can you fit in one case," lol.

He's running an OEM case right now. I'd suggest he look at Fractal and Corsair cases around the $100 mark. They'll do what he needs without looking like he has a rack server on his desk.

Meh not just for watercooling as it has one of the better airflows. Designed for watercooling...sure.

Fractal and Corsair have put out some shit cases the last few years thermals wise

I didnt realize he had a OEM case though :) And i also forget people actually put case on top of desks and crap. All mine get shoved under the desk or are sitting in server cases lol. I actually want to move my gaming pc to a server case and do a thunderbolt setup. Just run a thunderbolt cable to a hub for the monitors/kb/m

Everyone makes a few shitters. Usually at the $100 price point or above though he'll have plenty of airflow. What he's trying to cool isn't that epic.

Most offices are carpet. I've seen way too many good builds killed because the PSU sucked up fibers into it's filter, ran hot for a while, and finally went killing a bunch of components on its way out. Desktops on desktops saves bottom mount PSUs IMHO.

I'd go with a 011 for any sort of killer build where space isn't a concern, otherwise leave that case where der8auer can hug it lol.

I was checking out some of Phanteks options, they have one that has a single bay for optical and lots of ventilation.

I currently have a “DIY PC” cheap case with 2 140MM intake on the front, 2 140MM exhaust up top, a single 120MM on the back and then the 120MM of the PSU drawing air from under the case.

Case sits under the desk on hardwood floor, main contaminate is dust and dog fur.

@95 taco this is what I run, load it up with 120mm fans and you can cool almost anything in it. Takes up very little desk space to for what it is. For the price it's good value though if you want to spend more the sky is literally the limit. to @velillen 's point I've been pricing out a custom loop for a while, I'm going to wait for the 3000 series cards, and when $1K or more worth of cooling components are going in that's when you splurge for a $300-$500 case and the 011 is the king of that market, or at least the standard. No need to go there just to get temperatures down from an OEM case though.

The problem is the hard drive cages. You aren't getting much flow to the back of the case if any at all. Make sure to get a case without those and don't be afraid to setup aggressive fan curves. If you want sub 80c on all components your fans better max out before then.

Hard drive cases like that are built for want to be servers IMHO, they aren't built for high heat generating components.

Also time to dump that stock Ryzen cooler if you want better CPU temps. You'll get one hundred different opinions on what to go with but I'd still recommend a Noctua D15 Chromax.
