This is my first Tacoma well my first truck actually I’ve always owned cars or SUV’s. I just bought my 2017 SR5 with 50k miles on it right at a month ago and when it’s sitting idle it sounds like a pulley or something not necessarily rattling. I’m not sure how to explain it but I had taken it back to the dealership when my tag came in and he took it back to the mechanics and was told this is normal. Is doesn’t get louder when I take off the engine sounds healthy. Only hear it idling. Is this normal for a V6?

Your fuel injectors have a cleaning cycle that sounds like a "clicking" sound that's very audible when idling and this is normal. Separately, there is a known annoyance (though it wasn't characterized as an "issue" by Toyota) for a chirping high pressure fuel pump where it sounds similar to crickets or something of the sort but also can seem like a belt squealing . There was a TSB to replace these high pressure fuel pumps, but was only covered under the 36k basic warranty (unless you're is certified or something...) and thus you're likely SOL or have to pay ~$1500 out of pocket if that's indeed your issue.

As said above probably the HPFP chirping.

The dealership I went to all their vehicles come with lifetime warranties which is really nice. But no it’s not a chirping or squealing noise. It almost sounds like it’s knocking that’s the closest thing I can compare it to.

Feel free to post up a video of the sound, but based on your description it sounds like the injector cleaning cycle and nothing to be concerned about.
