2’ ?!!? Yikes!! I thought i was close to being end-over-ended! But was thinking i was over reacting. There’s so much weight on the rear of the truck

I sure hope you didn't give it too much gas with the wheel at full lock like that. 6800+lbs, stock axles, locked and giving it gas in that situation is a recipe for disaster. You probably couldn't crawl out because of your Hellwig bars. Are you running airbags in the rear? Im curious why you went with beefier swaybars if you plan on relatively serious wheeling like this picture.

For us, world travel right now is absolutely shutting down. We’ve been monitoring blog posts of multiple people being stuck all over the world right now, not being allowed to cross borders. We are still going to retire but was thinking we might have to stick around the US for a while. Now we’re hearing rumors that the Feds could require entire country to self quarantine in our houses this coming week. Maybe we’ll just travel around Oregon this spring.

I haven’t been to the Alford desert/ Steens Mountain in 30 years. I’d also like to see the Owyhee river area. Eastern Oregon is a unknown jewel

No I actually was feathering the gas trying to slowly climb out. I was dragging my rear diff in the dirt. All i needed was a little gas and it climbed right out going straight ahead. No air bags since the camper is planned on staying on the truck and the deaver springs are working great!

No, I don’t plan on driving this tough of routes, just wanted to test it out. I’m more concerned about deep, flat, endlessly long muddy roads and the sandy desert areas. We went with the Hellwig to control the moderate side-to-side swaying. I realize that sway bars can limit the suspension travel

The sway bars are actually a really great way to stabilize your rig. Here's some good info on it... this guy takes his rig in some insane places with the sway bars still connected!

Edit: here's a good vid show ing heavy rigs running sway bars and kicking a**!

Pardon my French but those guys are fucking idiots. Posting videos of trucks with bald ass street tires talking about how much swaybars help on pavement. Then taking the trucks on rocks getting in super sketchy situations, acting like total morons and thinking they're funny just for the views. If they would simply take the swaybars off(or have disconnects or light-weight sways like Currie anti-rocks) their trucks would crawl right up those rocks with no issue. @Round the world has a legitimate reason to add a heavier swaybars, his rig is heavy! Those guys are just dipshits that rely on their winches to get them through obstacles they shouldn't be attempting.

Interesting take on that. I thought they were pretty knowledgeable but who knows.

I do want to thank you though for reminding me that with the front locker on to make sure the wheels are pointed straight before cranking on the power, especially when there’s decent traction.

I'm a big fan of Hellwig rear sway bars. Limits articulation offroad but surely limits death wobble onroad.

You might think about upgrading your front links from the stock ones, I've bent a few and with the beefier front sway bar they're definitely a potential weak spot for you.

Don't be discouraged about world travel on hold, you've got the great USA to play in until things settle down.

Ok, back to hunting for toilet paper and meat...

Why not both at the same time. Why would I stock up when I have 4 neighbors that are well into retirement. Free 99

I'm not not talking about it

But in all seriousness people are over the top. The 2 week food thing is for when you get sick you can self quarantine at home for the period. Once that happens it'd be back to same shit different day for you.

I think there was some inference by Taco Roofer that their rigs still have the sways attached for the second video. The first is very much a sponsor promotion for those who need a rear sway. The 4x4 Action guys all seem to be quite competent at wheeling, but they do intentionally put themselves in precarious or difficult situations to up the entertainment factor for sure, because nobody is gonna watch them take the bypasses. Also, cameras rarely do height and angle justice and all of those drivers were shitting themselves taking that line. Most of those rigs are all live axle and have the kind of articulation that certainly suggests they do not have sway bars on.

Around the World has the issue that most of his rig's weight is at the rear, so when he goes up a hill, his front wheels are going to get light and have difficulty getting traction.

I just know I live full time off grid in my camper and when I went in to town for resupply today it was apocalypse. Starbucks closed except drive through, no meat, no produce, no TP. I got the hell out of CA and now I'm seriously looking for food and TP to resupply

Are you still in AZ? If you are and you're desperate I can hook you up with a little bit of stuff or at least tell you stores around here that have stuff. I had no trouble getting what I wanted in North Phoenix this AM.

Yeah I figure bigger cities will have stuff. Heading toward Phoenix on my way through. I could use a recommendation for alignment shop, totally effed my steering in death valley. Otherwise planning to try Camelback.
