Smart move in my opinion. I myself am happy I sold my Tacoma last week before things got worse. I won’t be buying it’s replacement unless I find a knockout deal.

Probably a smart decision. I just got laid off till at least June 1st, now I'm looking back at some of my spending wishing I would have done a few things differently. If the economy stays in this rut you may find them giving tacos away down the line which could be a plus from waiting. Also I hope you're new employee turns out to be as loyal to you as you have been to him.

You are Blessed! A good heart to keep that new guy employed, and you are not homeless. Count your blessings and your Taco will come, hopefully this crisis will pass soon and you’ll get a better deal later.
Be thankful you and nobody else on here has the virus, hang in there and stay safe my brother! Keep looking up.
    Aloha from Hawaii

My dads in the same boat, he was going to get a new jeep this summer, but the stock he was going to sell to get it lost 50% of its value... so 2021 or 2022 is his year.

    BINGO!
Yes. I own a pest management company that specializes in health care and audited food safety.
I have a 100% customer retention rate and it's a great business fit for me.
I've done well with it in my area.
The relationships I've built with my customers are the best. The work is interesting on our level.

But at the end of the day....I'm just a guy who would love to hand the phone off, grab a backpack or canoe and jump in a Tacoma and take off for a few days. I've worked hard all my life. I consider myself pretty lucky despite all the work. 3 jobs for 14 years, 11 days off a year including weekends and holidays. Two 20 hour days straight a week.
Build a company out of nothing. Create opportunities for others. Help others start their own businesses. Never ask for a dime. Be the husband ,the father , the community oriented guy. Do it all right. Treat people right. Like George Bailey right.

It may sound stupid but MY Tacoma was going to be my big reward. The special present to myself. Finally.
It was to be my escape. My happy place and I had spent months dreaming of all the places it would take me to do my outdoor stuff.

I feel kind of stupid on a forum trying to explainin it all. But all I know is this truck has more meaning to me than just a truck.

I'm ashamed of a thread and something so materialistic in light of what we are all dealing with right now.
Like I said before. Maybe I just needed to vent my frustration.
    Sorry

    None....yet.
Tell you what man, if things get as bad as I think they will.... I'll probably have to give mine up, and I probably wont be the only one. I should be able to keep working through this, but my old lady will not. With one of us not being able to work, I dont see us being able to afford both vehicles for too long. Hopefully this all blows over quicker than expected, but were in unprecedented territory. I've never seen anything like this in my life.

I too was looking at selling both my current vehicles and buying a new one a few weeks ago. I decided to be content with what I have, both paid for and nothing wrong with either one. That was before all this panic. So glad I didn't pull the trigger on a new one. Now if I can just get all the sales people I inquired with to stop emailing, texting and calling!!!

Now is your chance to sell them on some wild story. Like you sold all your clothes and joined a nudist cult that does in-store demonstrations.

    Lots, straight from the factory.
OP, you’re making the right move. This will blow over, it’ll just take some time. When it does, you’ll probably be able to go buy a pro for less than you were going to spend.
I understand the symbolism that the truck has for you. Seven years ago, I bought my wife and myself matching Rolex watches. I was so proud and it meant so much to me. I was on top of the world. A year later, part of me regretted buying them, because if the significant cost. Last year we changed our lives and moved from Washington state to Arizona, to enjoy less rain and better weather. I took a 70% pay cut and the wife took a 50% cut. When it came time to buy a home, we sold the Rolex watches. It was a little bit of a sad day, but it was also nice to have had that cushion.
Long and short of it, you’re doing the right thing. The opportunity for you to buy a Taco will present itself again. When it does, I think you’ll end up much better off. The world will work in your favor. Keep doing the right thing.

I just wrote a $3,000 check to a foundation repair crew digging some holes this morning. And that's only 50% of the work. On one hand, I want to cancel and hoard the money, but I get those guys need paid too. And I won't be destitute at all. So your thread makes me feel better about paying them to work.

I'm taking a kick to the dick this week and still trudging on. My truck is at the dealer for a week fighting them on a leaking 3rd brake light. My loaner Tacoma got a cracked windshield yesterday that I get to pay to fix. And they will probably deny my 3rd brake light because it stress cracked and they are calling it damaged. So likely 2 comp claims, and 1 not even for my truck. And then the foundation guys finally want to start and my stocks have been killed, but life goes on.
