OBD II tool for 2001 Tacoma...?

I was just informed by Ancel that there

$21 Ancel AD310 Classic Enhanced Universal OBD II Scanner Car Engine Fault Code Reader CAN Diagnostic Scan Tool-Black

Ancel AD310
would not work on my 2001 Toyota Tacoma. Any suggestions? I really need to see the problem codes because I am getting a check engine light(CEL).

Does your Tacoma not have the OBD II system??

Trying to read ABS or Transmission Codes I know some lower cost code readers will not support doing that.

Just what reason where you given that it will not work? I think we all want to hear this. ** Trying to up sell to a more expensive model

Design flaw on there product that it does not work on any OBD II system.

Get your money back complain false advertising you bought a product they claimed would work now they tell you it won`t.

Just what happened when you tried to connect?? Ignition on truck side clean and not full of dirt ?

Worse case get your codes read at one of the auto parts stores. till this mess is sorted out .

I have been using the Actron code readers one in each vehicle I need to look for the model #.

 

ANY OBDII compliant reader will allow you to read your codes on a Tacoma. You can go to Harbor Freight and buy their cheapest model and be able to read your "Check Engine Light" (CEL).

I also have this Harbor Freight tool (mine is an older version) that I have used on my 1998 Subaru Outback for years, and also my Tacoma.

 

i have an ultra gauge in my 80-series and my tacoma. you get codes but also real time data displayed in many parameters. they come with mounts and tell you real temp. rpm,voltage,etcetc. you can set alarms too so you never blow a head gasket for example or when to change yer oil etc. good product

 

Does anyone have any experience with the Zurich OBD that harbor freight sells? I am going to be selling a slightly used Ancel OBD II

Have you actually tried it? I have a hard time believing any OBDII unit can't read and erase codes. Maybe some of the other menus, like live data (which none of my readers have) might not work, but holy cow the OBD standard is widespread and universal.

 

I have the Zurich ZR13. I tested it briefly on my Tacoma and it worked fine but I don't remember if it could do the live data.
My truck got hit a couple weeks ago and is at the shop so I can't test it thoroughly for you.

 

If it does not support reading OBII just what does it read ??

Just who would buy something most can`t use??

 

I can second the use of the BlueDriver. I have been using one for the last year or so and it works great!

 

Will this work in places your phone has no service??

Now my phone makes phone calls every now and then when it feels like it should.

 

Just search blue tooth obdII reader on Amazon, get that one, it's like $20, and connects to your phone.

I run Torque Pro, and you can get a whole bunch of real time stats with it. App costs like $5. The free versoon works pretty good, too.

 

The device is BLUETOOTH, not CELLULAR, so it won't matter at all if you have no cell service; it will work fine.

 

Then I guess my phone is to old If it has Blue Tooth no one has ever been able to make it work.

The way it goes at times.

 

Check out the CRP-129 code reader by Launch. It's usually around $250 and works well with gen 1 Tacomas

 

I used a $5 eBay bt unit, worked fine with torque.

Ancel AD310, as well, and it doesn't work on my truck either.

 

I have one of the Actron units, works fine. Also have an ELM327 based device that works with Torque via bluetooth, and its fine, but slow.

 

I have 3 of the Actron CP9125C that has worked on everything for me.

Sometimes the vehicle side needs some cleaning to get the 15 years of dirt off.
