Edit 4: thanks problem solved once I changed out center bearing and ujoints!

Edit 3: added videos on post 11

Edit 2: also if I’m accelerating for 0-40 no noise but as soon as I let off and coast the noise comes on until I decelerate down to 25 ish. So load change?

    Edit: video on post #6

So I just noticed that my truck at around 30+ will start squealing. I can rev up pat the gas and it doesn’t increase the squealing. The sound sounds like a slipping belt but from underneath and behind me.

Doesn’t seem to do it when it first starts up but after about 5-10 mins from driving it starts at around the 35mph mark.

the sound seems like it’s coming from the rear. Underside.

info about the truck. 2015 Trd Pro Taco with 120,000 miles. Only mods I’ve done under the car is toytec add a leafs and that was done about 40-50k miles ago. The front diff was also flushed last around 100k miles.

first thing I did was change the rear diff fluid to redline 75w85.

When that didn’t change anything I greased the 3 ujoints. Squealing is still there.

I’ve also tried driving while depressing the ebrake and the squealing didn’t stop.

any ideas where else I can look? What I should do to test? Any more info needed?

I’ve checked my window visors, bed cover, and anything that seems could catch air if it was that I still can’t figure it out. But I believe it is mechanical.

    thank y’all so much!

I saw something like that not too long ago, but on a Jeep Cherokee. The guy's transfer case was bone dry. Likelihood you have the same problem? Low. But something you should check anyway.

gotta weed past exhaust and tire noise. But sounds like a balloon when you pinch the ends to make it whistle

I honestly didnt hear anything, even with the volume up.. But if there was no change after greasing all the fittings on the driveshaft, I wouldn't just start throwing parts at it..

How does the carrier bearing look? You said you had one on order

So everyone I had ride in the car with me to try and hear took a little while to hear it. Kind of like you have to know what you’re trying to listen too. Yeah video doesn’t do a great job but it’s hard to capture noise. I’ll see what I can do as Exhaust and tires seem to drown it out. I probably shouldn’t have been patting the gas so much but was trying to show that it didn’t change the sound when patting.

also if I’m accelerating for 0-40 no noise but as soon as I let off and coast the noise comes on until I decelerate down to 25 ish. So load change?

yeah I’m at the point of highly annoyed and also a little afraid something may break by the sound. Those things won’t hurt to change as I’m at 120k miles so just trying to slowly replace parts that may be the cause.

I sprayed wd40 around the joints and cb hoping it would alleviate some noise. (It didn’t)

Just enough to look kinda cool.
I just recently changed my carrier bearing and u joints, I had some sounds coming from under neath my truck. I can faintly hear something in the last video you posted. Maybe try jacking up the rear axle of your truck so your rear tires are in the air and putting it in drive. That way you can get out and listen closer for any sounds, it might be something caught in-between your brakes. I did see you had hair ties on your wiper stock... I do the same thing

Honestly, I don't hear a thing. Maybe hire a good sound engineer to edit the video to isolate the sound and post it here again. :D

never know when she needs to tie her hair up ;)

Thought about putting rear end up and gassing it but afraid of the "what if" and it going off the stands and rolling.

I guess that explains why I heard it... but I'm a live sound engineer... it sounds almost like something is stuck in the brakes

You used actual real grease in u-joints though right? The CB is semi sealed on the 4x4 trucks, so Im not sure WD-40 would help at all

Oh yeah for sure I used grease gun into zerk fittings on all ujoints. I just was trying to cover all my bases even though it may not work, never hurts to try haha

If the noise is not changing in porportion to speed i would rule out U joints ( just changed mine) try getting on your rear bumper and bouncing up and down if you get the noise it’s your leaf springs maybe something stuck or the rubber is worn down which is a common enough issue. That would be one of my first guesses and you can’t hear it during acceleration because of engine noise exhaust ect .

Update squeak/whine is gone! I spent all day and changed my ujoints and center bearing and it went away. Due to exhaust and how faint the noise was I must couldn’t notice the change in pitch when speeding up. Sounded constant.
Thanks for everyone that chimed in!
