As a matter of fact it is, good eye. That's me going over the side, my copilot couldn't keep his fat ass on the tube and knocked me right out.

Yes indeed to bad about getting knocked out of first place.

Some really interesting projects have come out of that competition over the years

So much is wrong with that pic.
Gauge of wires, lug is not crimped, it looks too light that the weld cable will Pull it off your workpiece

    I call BS.
I like the idea but it’s built too small. It needs more surface area to conduct current

I tried that for a while. It works good for flat surfaces. I had to switch back to a clamp to weld pipe. I never put the magnet back on.

It more designed to stick to fab table that is always grounded.

I would rather do all my welding on the table, but that really only happens part of the time.

What is it that your having issue with?
An issue with magnetic mounts is they collect a lot of metal shavings. It becomes a hassle to have to stop and clean often

Just what are you trying to do?

You want to have a magnetic work clamp but don`t want to pay for a real one.

Sadly a few went in the last load of scrap.

This is more a hype to push on hobby type welders as the best thing to improve your welding.

How would you even get a good connection on all that rust ? The magnet seems tiny to hold any sort of pressure on the connection with the work piece .

Then maybe that is not the real work connection for the picture ??

That sounds familiar. My deepest and longest dive came at the FEET of my cousin who outweighs me by 150lbs. We had a small raft up on its side and he came down on me, feet first and pushed me deep in a hole. I was down for probably 20 seconds, got flushed, then came up about 30 yds downstream.

I had about a 10-12 yr whitewater obsession, kayaks and rafts: New, Gauley, Ocoee Nolichucky, Russell Fork, Wilson's Creek. My kayak still hanging on the garage wall. Too old now. I could still manage Class III in short burst, but that would be it.

I don't like magnets anywhere around where I'm welding. As soon as you start grinding anything the sparks/metal all find the magnet and you can't get them off.

This hangs under our welding table, need to throw it away. Used it three times I think over the past 10 years.

That's the beauty of the Magswitch tools. Turn the handle and all the shit falls off. They are expensive but you get what you pay for.
