I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I really don't want to so...

Has anyone changed the transfer case and/ or front diff. oil with full ski plates? I happen to have a set from CBI. It seems like I can get to the transfer case, though it's a bit tight. Front diff. might be impossible, but just taking off the front piece instead of the entire set of skids would be amazing.

I just did the front diff at 10k miles. Ton of shavings on the magnet and the fluid was very silvery. The issue is finding a way to get the fluid back in. I didn't have an adequate pump so I had to snake a long tube up through the wheel well and then to the funnel. I would NOT tackle this job until you figure out how you will get the fluid back in.

An $8 hand pump gets the fluid back in.

And I find that if you need multiple quarts, it's easier if you get a pump that fits on a gallon jug (some will fit on quarts or gallons). Pour your quarts into an empty gallon jug and pump from that.

I did my front diff and tcase and have full SOS offroad concepts skids. I just took them off. You can't drain the front diff easily with the IFS skid on, same goes for the tcase and tcase skid.

The drain plugs were way overtightened from the factory, so it would have been impossible to get enough torque on the ratchet at a good angle without removing the plates anyways.

I didn't use a pump for mine, I used a bigass syringe I had laying around. It's a lot more precise than a pump or funnel.

I'm about to do front, rear, and t case in about 1500 miles. Let me know what pump you use, and any tips or tricks to save me from myself would be greatly appreciated!

Always make sure you can get the fill plug loose before taking of the drain plug.

Less effort to take the skids off than it is to work around them with them in place

It has been recommended to get a 6 point socket (24mm) for the plugs. Less chance of slipping than a 12 point.

You can get a set of all of the plug gaskets on Amazon.

When you do the T-case it will take just a tad more than a qrt and that shit is spendy...drain old into clean reservoir, fill with new jello. Top up with the old if required (it will be clean when you drain)...will save buying an extra qrt

They don't sell it in quarts. They sell it in liters which just happen to be 1.05 quarts, which rounds up to 1.1 qts, the spec per manual.

I bought 2 liters of liquid gold when I did mine; 1 liter is sufficient.
