Anybody know of a good sheetmetal fabricator or welder that would be able to build my camper a new roof? I had zero fiberglass experience before building my roof, and that lack of skill is starting to take effect. I want to replace what I've got now with a similar form made of aluminum. I dont have the space, tools, or time to attempt this new direction on my own. I live in Portland but travel up the Olympic Penninsula often, so anywhere in that range would work. Thanks!

Here's a good shot of the roof during construction.

Correct. Replacing the fiberglass shell with aluminum preferably (for weight, though I guess steel wouldn't be too bad?). The shell is about 120" long and 56" wide, with a 6" lip. 1/8" aluminum would be perfect. I want it to bolt to the aluminum frame seen under the shell in the first picture.

I'm all ears for options. Waterproof and strong enough to mount roof racks to/through. My fiberglass creation is built around polycarbonate twinwall for weight savings and rigidity but it's proving to be rather fragile and crushable, probably due to my amatuer fiberglass work in sub-par conditions.
I was looking into aluminum composite board, but there is no good way that I've seen to bend it around a radius. Polycarbonate sheet can be bent well, but is very expensive and heavy in a thickness that is rigid enough.

MetalSupermarket.com has 4'x8' sheets of 1/8" 5052 for $267. I haven't been able to find any sheets big enough to have one single 6'x12' piece. Seems like I would have to weld multiple pieces together to get the size I need. Unless you've got a better line on big stuff? The polycarbonate twinwall I used for the fiberglass shell was a single 6'x12' sheet before I trimmed and shaped it.

I hear you man. Lots of places are shutting down and many people will be hurt by this. School shut down as well. My daughter, and many, started her spring break early. I still have to go to work since I work at one of the larger hospitals in Portland.

My work is still open but on a volunteer basis.... I have a wife that is T1D so I can risk getting her sick. I volunteered to stay at home. It will be kind of like an adult spring break

Praying for all of you working as first responders as police and fire and EMS and hospital workers. I have many friends in those fields and all I can do is sit back and hope for the best. Another one of my friends got tested because one of the confirmed cases came into his store and he started showing symptoms... pretty scary to know that if he tests positive that a lot of people may be affected since he didn’t show symptoms until after he got back from his anniversary at the beach.

Just a friendly reminder to people being at home with their significant others for a hours on end. Give each other plenty of space. Don’t let this stuff sour your relationships.
