How many miles before front breaks need replacement?

How many miles did you guys/girls do on original breaks???? Thanks

i was reading a thread here somewhere, most guys were replacing at 90,000-100,000 or so

 

08 TACO 60,000 MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS

 

On my '99 I had 85k before replacing the front pads. Still had the original rears when the factory bought it back at 112k. My '10 only has 3,800 miles on it, but still have the original front brakes.lol

 

64k on mine and still strong...

 

57,500 and on factory original

 

Really depends on how you drive and type of driving you do. I don't go on mileage. I just check them about every 5000.

 

mine have a very hard towing and oversize tires at 60000 miles and they look great.

 

It depends on how you drive and what type of driving you do. A lot of highway driving with little braking will result in a long brakes life. On the other hand a lot of stop and go with a lot of braking wil result most likely in a shor brakes life.

 

Of course, that is very true. I am just trying to see what the average life for the breaks might might be!!!!

Does anyone here downshift to help with the braking

 

I downshift to help with braking in both my trucks. My 99 GMC Sonoma has well over 40,000miles on the front pads and there about half worn.

 

yep, every single time i slow down.
downshifting should also increase brake life

 

id rather replace my brake pads than pay to rebuild my tranny

 

I replaced mine at like 70-72k...somethin like that. They were GONE.
