I understand and feel for everyone that still has to go to work during this time. My point is at folks like myself that work in offices that can/should be working from home. These are the kinds of jobs that force you to travel for work, more often than others. These 'professionals' should know to operate under a different set of rules. Also the selfish people who just choose to travel b/c it was already planned should not be so selfish as to return to work and possible get others sick. You choose to put yourself out there so be responsible and add a week to your vacation and stay home after you return.
I'm lucky that my wife is at home with the kids today, and I feel for all those who are scrambling to make arrangements around child care during this time. My wife has offered to keep some of the neighbor hood kids that have parents that are nurses that still have to go to work but can't go to school/daycare as they would normally do. (not sure how much I'm going to like that)

you probably have a stock purchase option at your work outside of your 401K. I would look there first. Your 401K might give you the option to pick your stock options instead of a standard mutual fund, or I have a separate IRA at eTrade from a rolled over 401 that I dabble in stocks with that doesn't mess with what I still pull out every paycheck.

So 36 confirmed cases in Alabama now. Going by the numbers from last week and a Doctor's estimate that I listened to, you can multiply that number x10 or even 20. So realistically 360-700 cases in Alabama.

Alabama is shutting down 78 of it's ABC stores to protect their employees. California telling millions to shelter in place, stay at home, don't go anywhere. States are shutting things down left and right but the numbers keep going up.

@InfernoChalupa yes it will get worse. We've only just begun.

    From AlabamaWX

QUIET MARCH PATTERN: While a few showers will show up from time to time, the mid-week period looks pretty quiet for much of Alabama as an upper high over the Gulf of Mexico continues to nose into the state from the south. Look for a mix of sun and clouds today and tomorrow with just a few widely scattered showers; temperatures rise into the mid 70s today… by tomorrow afternoon we will be pretty close to 80. Thursday will be mostly dry, and most likely it will be the warmest day so far this year with a high in the low to mid 80s. The record high for Birmingham on March 19 is 89 set in 1982. Not in danger, but we should get within five degrees.

We do note SPC has a risk of severe thunderstorms defined just west of Alabama Thursday, including much of Arkansas and adjacent states.

The good news is that we don’t expect any severe thunderstorms in Alabama on Friday as the system and the associated cold front arrive. But, rain is likely Friday along with potential for a thunderstorm or two; rain amounts should be around 1/2 inch for most communities. The high Friday will be in the 70s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: The weather will be much cooler for the northern half of the state, with highs between 57 and 62 Saturday and Sunday. The sky will feature more clouds than sun, and we can’t rule out some light rain. The best chance of rain Saturday will be over the southern half of the state, and even there it certainly won’t rain all day. The front will begin to lift northward as a warm front Sunday, so light rain will shift northward, reaching North Alabama by late afternoon or Sunday night.

NEXT WEEK: The upper high over the Gulf of Mexico stays in place, and the overall pattern won’t change too much. The week looks fairly mild, and somewhat showery with potential for some rain at times. A weather system will bring potential for a few thunderstorms at some point Monday night or Tuesday, but there is a good bit of model uncertainty about how the system impacts Alabama. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

Insane sense of balance. Especially the jump between the two come along straps. Like it that the out-takes show he isn't always a 100% on all his moves.

This is just the tip of the iceberg folks. It's gonna get worse before it gets better. This couple weeks of shutdown is when the virus is going to rear its ugly head. Those numbers are going to jump as soon as we more testing kits in.

In other words, it's gun cleaning day.

I was told this morning that Marshall Spaceflight center in HSV is expecting to extend their tella-work out to 30 days instead of the original 2 weeks.

Alabama State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris said in a news conference that if Alabamians don't "hunker down" he will consider stricter guidelines across the state to fight Covid-19.

In other words, stay home or I'll make you stay home.

I work with the public so I have definitely have seen a reduction in people today vs. yesterday.

I was on an insane conference call this morning where the amount of stupid questions asked was at an all time high. I thought two things. First, I wish they had to state their location and name so we would know who It was to make the call more entertaining. Second, questions like these is why people don’t get it like @Toyotacrawler stated earlier.

Gonna take the state telling us to shut this place down or either we're all sick and can't be here. I don't get it.

You don't ignore putting a fire out because you can only see smoke and not the flames. You prepare to put it out and attack.

Apparently the company I work for wants to catch on fire first then do damage control.

President said this morning they are going to help the airlines to maintain their crews and production so everything will be in place when he cures this. So you are in the wrong occupation for this pandemic.
