Whoever decided to put the brake hardline to softline mount/ clip in the most inaccessible area can suck my left one.Clip is siezed and access is poor. Even using a line wrench I stripped the drivers side hard line nut

You talking about that C shaped clip that keeps the brake line attached to the mount? I had a hell of a time getting those off in the front, the rear one had better access.

Soak the clip in some kind of lubricant or WD40 if that's what you've got, try and wedge a chisel or screwdriver against it and then tap it off with a hammer

On my friend's 2nd gen, the hard line nut in the rear was a pain to break loose. If I gave it all my muscle it would just twist the line. We had to let it soak for a couple hours in PB Blaster then it came off relatively easily

Exactly, Same 2004 truck here as well. I've got to try and tackle them here soon. Im going to replace the stripped brake line nut with a JY piece or new just to be done with it. Even leverage to get the clip removed is nearly impossible with the location but I'll try more heat and penetrating lube.

Okay, to test the efficacy of Cunningham's Law which is: "The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask a question, it's to post the wrong answer" I'm going to post a few pics of what I did today without knowing what I am doing and wait for the "What the fuck were you thinking!?" replies which hopefully also tell me what the hell I did wrong.

Also, are there torque specs for the 17mm bolts holding the shock bodies on?

Thank you for you illuminating replies.

:notsure: Waiting for my sister to be done working from home so she can come up here and jump up and down on the rear bumper while I sit underneath and see what I can see. These are supposedly for my Tacoma and can handle 0-3" of lift (I have OME Dakars and AAL in the rear now) so hopefully they will work fine.

I've had the same Icons on for nearly 2 years, 3" of rear lift. No issues with them. For what it's worth though, I do have the taller Wheelers rear Superbumps

Went and got the bolts to 53 ft/lb and measured on the not at all flat in any dimension driveway. 5.5" on one side, 7" on the other. And that is "empty" which means carrying none of my stuff but have bed platform in and camper shell on
