I’ll assume we can lump 3rd gen Tacoma CVs in with 2nd gen? They look a lot beefier than the earlier models I’ve looked at in person.

2nd gen Tacoma and 3rd gen Tacoma front axle assemblies for most things are identical

Only major difference I know of is the housing for the diff has slightly different mounting points and a couple other small differences.

I'm currently working on fitting 35s. Skipped the traditional CMC and went straight for this relocation bracket from Lil Bs.

Just finished installing the ToyTec BOSS Aluma 2.0 coilovers, doing the 2.0 shocks + AAL this weekend. Aside from that just going to hammer the pinch and then go from there.

Pics of the progress so far:

Edit: Tires will be BFG KM3s 35x12.5x17 on Method Roost wheels

I think it would look pretty nice if you removed the head of the snorkel and made like a vent/reverse scoop.

Question: Can I stuff 35s in the rear with stock everything just for a few days of city driving? I have my 3" lift installed in the front but can't get to doing the rear until this weekend. Would be nice to get the tire install out of the way in the mean time though.

Damn that looks siiiiiiick. I like the 35s on stock wheels. Looks like you have a ton of lift, maybe its the trimmed fender flares?

Thanks! It has a 1” body lift on it right now that may or may not stay.

Discount tire told me they couldn’t do it but Pep Boys didn’t seem to have a problem.

A 315/75-16 will fit no problem. Quite a few people on here have done "35s" on stock offroad wheels. Stock suspension is a much bigger deal than stock wheels ha.

Ignored the recommended rim width range. Sketch balls. I would never air down.

Why don't you show us where you found that its beyond the recommended range? Maxxis doesn't list one.

Why wouldn't you air down? Can you provide a single example of an issue caused by a tire that was too wide for a wheel and had an issue when aired down? No because there isn't one. If anything, it will be worse when aired up because the tire may crown a little and wear down the center when driven on pavement most of the time. Off road the tire will actually hold a bead better and conform to obstacles better with more sidewall flex. Head over to a site like pirate4x4 where people actually wheel their rigs and you will find all sorts of wide tires on narrow wheels. Back to overlanding for you with your rig that is over its GVWR but Im sure its safe.
