This may have been asked before but I couldn't find it in the archives, do you guys wait till the maint required light comes on to change your oil, or do you change it at 3000 miles? Kind of new to this site and my truck, so I was just wondering! Thanks:confused:

I use full synthetic and change it every 5k. I could care less when the light comes on.

I go by months between oil changes since I don't put many miles on my truck (around 5,000 a year.) When I used dino I changed it every 4 months. On the next oil change I'm making the switch to synthetic and I'll go every 6 months.

Just did my first oil change and refilled with full synthetic. I'm gonna change it every 6 months/5,000 miles, whichever comes first even though the changing intervals with synthetic are supposedly longer.

Do a search and you'll find even more responses and opinions

My self I go 4~5,000 miles depending on time. More miles in a shorter time, I go the 5 if not I'll change around 4,000.

    It's just me!

I did my first 5k job and refilled with full synthetic (new truck). I used to run 10k-15k on my previous vehicle, and plan on refilling at 10k intervals from now on.

The dealership tried to tell me they recommend 10k intervals if you use synthetic.

OP, every single person is going to have different intervals because they use different kinds of oil, also their driving patterns/locations are different and can dictate this. They'll also have different opinions and beliefs.

You didn't do a very good job on searching, we have about a million threads on this, but that doesn't matter because there is also a lot of good info online. But I don't blame you, because sometimes the search engine results get bloated with other non-related results.

Anyways I would suggest going to this website and taking the time yourself to read it yourself. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/cms/

Hope that helps, welcome to TW.com and have a good one!

Unless you are driving a high performance vehicle, 3,000 miles is overkill.

If you read your manual, it recommends 5,000 miles. Some members have stated that you can run safely to 7,500 miles on synthetic.

Just switched to Amsoil and thinking about doing 6 to 7k intervals due to high mileage, mostly gentle county hiway commute at 50mph. What do yall think about sending sample to Blackstone?

I sent my first one with Valvoline full synthetic to blackestone last time after 8000 miles and am about to do another one a 9500 miles. I think it is a good idea especially if you are wanting to extent your oci. Some people do it every oil change, but once I'll probably if this one comes back good just start changing it every 9000 and send it in every 4 or so oil changes.
