Thanks! When I moved in to the house the garage was 100% peg board and nothing else. Tore it down to the studs, insulated, added cabinets, rubber floors, and all the equipment. Also permanently added a"portable" air conditioner for the hot Texas heat/humidity. I use it at least one day a week while hitting local gyms the other days. Gotta switch things up to keep progressing!

Morton Buildings just quoted me a bare bones 40x50 pole barn for $46,300 lmao and that does not include the concrete estimate

    What a fucking joke.

National barn company was the most reasonable of the big companies I talked with. Even then, they were too rich for my blood. Might be worth looking into.

I have local good ol' boy coming out to give me a quote. He just did a 30x50 with concrete for $26k across from my brothers house.

That's right on par with the quotes I was given by multiple "good ole boys". Still way more than I'm willing to pay. haha

I will never understand why people waste a garage with a gym.

Not unless you have a 4+ car garage.

    Because:
    1. I hate going to actual gyms and having to wait for things
    2. I can't fit my truck in my garage anyways
    3. WTF else am I gonna do with a barely 1 car garage?

Never used it to park a vehicle in... still utilize it for working with tools (now with comfy rubber floor and AC)... working out is more important to me... no rules in my garage gym... gym in walking distance...

    1. I wouldn’t live in a place where my vehicles don’t fit in the garage.

When I was buying a home that was legit the first question I asked my realtor was what the garage dimensions are.

plus I would get claustrophobic AF working out in a 1 car.

    I’m just hittin the gym.

I’d do what @Travish325 and @rngr are doing and just build a new place... when I’m further along in life and can afford it of course.

My shop won't be a gym. "Going" to the gym lets me use my gym time as me-time. If I tried to workout at home, I'd have two kids hanging off me. haha.

Our plan for the next house is to have an indoor gym purposely built or have a shop that doubles as a garage/gym. This is our first home and an indoor gym was never thought of when we were buying.

I prefer living close to the beach. Therefore I don't get the luxury of a big garage or space, and I'm content with that. I gots what I gots. When/if I decide to move away from the beach and can get a place with enough room for a large garage or extra shop. But that's not happening anytime soon.

I agree and almost share the same view. When the gym is someplace else it turns into a place of better focus.

    True true, choices.

I just care too much for my vehicles.

I certainly would love to be able to garage my truck, but it's not happening for quite some time. I can at least fit my Harley in the garage. Since I just started this new job I'm kind of stuck here for a while, which isn't an issue. But I definitely would love to get a bigger garage. I'm fine with a smaller house, I just want a big ass garage for gym/workshop/whatever. But that won't happen unless I move out of state lol

Our gyms closed and as per the norm, everyone went out to the sporting goods stores that very day to buy up every single piece of home gym equipment lol. I was 12 hours too late.

Been going to 24 Hr Fitness 3 - 5 times a week for 17 years now, minus my 2 week trip out of the country this is shaping up to be the longest break I've ever taken. I need to start familiarizing myself with some home workout routines that don't involve the kind of weight lifting equipment used in a gym.

Yesterday I just stuck with some basic push ups and pull ups using a low hanging branch on our sycamore tree in the backyard. Felt incomplete though but better than nothing I guess.

I also discovered that my 60lb Budbilt skid plate I've had sitting in the backyard for forever worked well to do some higher rep lifting with. Might explore more ways to utilize that thing. Reminds me, I also have the trans skid which weighs more and is bigger

Thats why you’ll never see me live in CA. Realsestate is just insane. My house would be over a mil in some places out there.

Do you have to worry about ocean water rusting your vehicle? Like salt in the air?

Definitely, a lot of older vehicles that spend their lives near the coast out here will have rusty frames. Not uncommon to see but not as bad as living where they salt the roads.

If you drive it on the beach or in beach sand then it can be just as bad.
