Yeah this whole pretty pathetic. We do the pickup thing at Fry's every week. Yesterday our order that was supposed to be ready for pick up at 8AM wasn't ready until 5PM. The kid that works there said that they normally have a about 35 orders on Fridays, but yesterday they had 150+.

This is true, the only thing we didn't get was the 5 gallons of drinking water that we always order.

It's bizarre to see this mix of utter indifference and total panic.

It really highlights the average persons lack of comprehension and capability for independent research, as if the number of times people ask about spacer lifts or "what tires won't rub" on here wasn't already an excellent indication.

The TP thing is a joke, you're gonna run out of food and water loooooooong before you run out of toilet paper.

Prevention is also very very easy, and it still is mind boggling to see people not grasping the whole "wash your hands with soap and water" thing. Just the other day I heard someone say "no I'm fine, I washed my hands right before I left work" as if they hadn't just touched numerous doorknobs in public spaces.

One saving grace for us in the valley:
Hot, dry weather slows the spread down. A sneeze or cough in dry weather tends to drop to the ground very quickly.
    One reason we're fuckin' boned:
The virus does not die on the 5 second rule, it hangs out for a while on the ground there. Leaf blowing spreads it like crazy.

Guarantee you the leaf blower brigades will be out in force as usual making sure we all get exposed to plenty of it that would have settled on the ground.:bananadead:

Work is super slow since schools are closing down. I've been keeping busy working in the garage (really it is the only thing I do these days). The only issue now is my parts are being delayed left and right due to all the dumb fucks freaking out about the flu.

    Anyways. Here are my toys.

1948 GMC "Franken-Truck" (It's made up from 12+ different cars/trucks from 1948-1980). Hopefully the engine will be fired up this weekend. I still have a long way to go on this. No plans on painting it, this truck was built to run.

    Radiator is out being rebuilt:

1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 "Vivian". I'm doing a full restoration on this. About 80% done.

FYI City of Phoenix just declared a state of emergency. Same for Tucson. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the major suburbs of Phoenix follow suit. This is going to keep getting worse for at least a couple weeks before it gets better. I was at Banner University this morning, hospital is closed to non-emergency. Outpatient surgery was still open but I doubt that will last. VA is closed to all non-emergency people. Im about to have a lot of time to camp.

edit: STOP GOING OUT asymptomatic people are whats causing the spread. Just because you feel fine does not mean you should be around other people. It sounds crazy but its true. Dont become a statistic.

While I do agree there is a bit of an excessive panic, doing the math and assuming it infects everyone and a 5% mortality rate, this virus looks to kill around 16 million Americans if it isn't contained before effective antiviral meds and vaccines can be developed and distributed.

There are not enough hospitals to service that many people. This isn't the flu.

On another more positive note, looking forward to seeing that Firebird when its done because it already looks great in person!

EDIT: But 5% is the absolute worst case percentage.

    1. we cant believe anything out of china.
    2. do you want to go through the draconian measures to contain the way they did?

People in the US get enraged at the thought of someone possibly running for election who might consider thinking about limiting their ability to buy guns. You think those people are going to be ok with getting beat up in the street and thrown into vans by masked government agents to contain the spread of a disease they don't believe in because they cant see it? China was literally chaining and WELDING peoples front doors shut so people couldnt leave their house. It's going to spread worse here than it has anywhere else because of the "freedoms" we have and because of how selfish americans are. All the dipshits at Clearwater Beach and St Patricks celebrations are going to give it to their parents/grandparents and the silver tsunami will come hard and fast.
