There are several confirmed cases in my town. Even the police department is scaling back and planning to respond over the phone to non emergencies.

I actually think I may be sick but who knows, it could be anything. Mild cough that is more annoying than anything.

I'm so fed up with this crap I can't speak in a reasonable way. If you aren't old or sick you will be fine. Just get sick and then get better. Panic is the threat. We are one public announcement away from shooting each other at Walmart. 90% of my Facebook is a bunch of people telling other people what to do with no credentials. Have you noticed that all the influence is from unqualified people and politicians saving their jobs? People ignore the qualified people that make suggestions. This IS a major problem because of the reaction worldwide.

It’s important to slow the spread as to not overwhelm the system. You also don’t want to be reckless and spread the virus to the elderly.

I feel like I need to go buy a few thousand rounds of ammo before it gets worse. Looting is coming I feel like. Supply’s are running thin. I live in the country so I feel like if anybody would be a target it would be the people far out...

This is very true. The only people that need the system are the old and sick. Everyone else can stay home. The hospital will send you home with the virus unless you are very sick

I’m a Dialysis Nurse. We are still doing Dialysis on 20 patients at a time in a clinic with 5 staff members. I work 3 nights a week. Wearing surgical masks (staff and patients), checking temp and asking questionnaire at entrance.
Just a matter of time before our patients start getting sick. They all have multiple co-morbidities (many other health problems).
I left the ER after 18 years to do Dialysis Nursing (less stress, less hours, better benefits/pay), and I am very happy that I’m not in the ER at this time. Although my son (X-ray tech) and wife (Nurse) are both putting in many stressful, long hours.
As a family, we are very exposed, but all are healthy and have remarkable immune systems due to years of exposure. It’s still a scary time for our family (elderly parents, and very young grandkids).

I have been deemed " Operationally Critical " so when I need to come in or go into the lab anyone who isnt has to leave the area I am in , though most people have started working from home. I work in the semiconductor field and our stock has dropped from $140 a month to around $60 today. Im sure layoffs are near

    Work wise: Nothing.
I'm an engineer on a farm (weird, I know) but cows still need to be milked, and crops still grow and we're a minimal contact crew on a ranch over a square mile so I've low risk of contacts. I purchase our supplied in 3 month increments to minimize hassle and seasonal cost swings so no change there.

    Personal life: MAJOR
I was getting married at the beginning of April. We have an internationally family. It was going to be around a 250 people wedding. Everything changed. Reception postponed until July. Ceremony now paired down to under 20 people. We're fortunate that all vendors, venues, people involved have worked with us so we didn't loose any deposits. The ceremony is going to be very low key with a small reception as a very intimate group. We're going to video stream the wedding.

Her parents were able to snag the last flight from their mission area (missionaries with the church) to come stateside, but now are effectively homeless. They're staying with extended family, but not sure how long that will last until they've got to move to another location to avoid overstaying their welcome. My sister and BIL were able to leave SF before the lockdown so we're all together as a family. My mother is a nurse, so she's working crazy hours. She's close to retirement, so I worry about her age and her exposure.

We've got food, water, and our health at the moment, and we have each other. That's what matters most.

I live in a very populated area. Even though there are lots of cases here, it's relatively calm. Except for the grocery stores, shopping centers are almost completely empty.

Actually, that isn't correct. It is affecting younger members of the population. Just yesterday there was a post on here of a 25 year old who is in the hospital with it. My sister has a coworker in the hospital (in his 40s) with it and a case of double pnemonia.

I'm forced to work from home until April 6 and am to "shelter in place". On a good note, business is up exponentially to last year.

Yeah local Walmart is a 30 minute drive. We have a nice stock pile but I feel like if somebody was to get robbed. It would be the house in the middle of the 40 acre field :annoyed:

I hate to say this but I think the two week estimate is a pipe dream. I figure schools will be out for at least 4 to 6 weeks minimum.

My wife owns two Pilates studios in LA county and they were both forced to shut down a couple days ago, that's the biggest effect we've felt in our family.

My work has cut down on # of people coming in but I'm considered "essential" to operations so I'm still coming in like usual. With my wife's business shut down it's nice I'm still able to go to work at least.

The only other part of this that gravely concerns me in the short and long term is that we have a 3 month old daughter. Luckily it seems that children are mostly only mildly affected by the virus, but still. A respiratory infection in an infant is not something I take lightly, mild or not. So we're very careful with her.

Of course then there's the economy as a whole, which is/will effect all of us. At least we're in it together I guess

Oh and all the goddamn grocery hoarders (you know who you are) are hurting the people around them in more ways than one. Not that they give AF though.

I don't know where you've been working for the last 4 days, but in my 30 years of working in the healthcare field in hospital OR's, Cath Labs, and ICU's, I have never experienced being "spit on, coughed on, sneezed on". There are common and required P&P's and training to prevent/minimize exposure events. Nor have I ever experienced "doctors and nurses NOT wearing any kind of protective equipment". The hospital environments I have experience with are exceptionally professional work places, and they are taking this shit very seriously. Maybe you didn't get the appropriate training, or maybe you don't know how to conduct yourself in a hospital setting...or maybe your just making shit up.

I'm self-employed. No more face to face meetings, so I'm more productive than ever. No more meetings also means no more new projects, so currently finishing up what I got and hope that the situation improves in the next few weeks. Since I have no investments to speak of, the stocks don't affect me but they do affect the clients... We are all screwed for the next few months, some more than others. But we'll be fine after that...
