I'm a manufacturing engineer at a ceramics plant and it seems that we are getting even busier since the coronavirus shutdowns. Everyone is still chugging along at the plant. Social distancing sure helps to keep people from distracting you through out the day which has been the best part of all of this.

I'm starting to think this might be a long-term situation. The first two pages summarize it pretty well. Essentially, given the tools we have today, our only options for slowing this thing down are social distancing and all that. If we relax those, there is a chance it'll spring back. The only thing that will change the situation is if we develop some immunity or a vaccine.

The bank I work at is restricting cash withdraws to $1,500/day and we had to close 1 branch yesterday because they ran out of cash. My bank also just notified us that all outgoing emails are being monitored and anything mentioning Corona Virus will be blocked from being sent, so I cant even warn my customers about changes in the market or delays caused by all of this. I am a Mortgage Loan officer so appraiser are refusing to go inside homes, buyers are backing out of contracts because uncertainty with their job, and many of my customers who work for school districts we had to suspend their loan until we know when they will return to work.

I sure am glad I escaped California .... it looks way worse down there.

I wonder if the coming summer season will help it slow down, like what happens with the common cold and flu viruses every year once winter especially is over. I'm not trying to speculate or anything, just curious. I normally loathe the hot weather we get here, but if it turns out to help...then bring it.

I haven't been affected too bad. I can work from home nearly indefinitely, but all travel has been cancelled, so I can't meet customers or do field work. But at least the customers understand because they're even more locked down than we are, and rightly so.

Its mostly just really quiet here. We've got a water cooler conference call scheduled for tomorrow .

I dunno. I saw an article last week that was trying to put together links between Wuhan, Iran, Italy and WA in that they all have similar climates right now. Looking at the map now though, it seems like that was mostly just coincidence.

    Sure would be nice though.

Other than social distancing and having difficulty finding things we want to buy in stock at the grocery store, the biggest impact for me has been reduced traffic on my commute. We're deemed an "essential service" company, so we're running fully staffed as normal. Most of the accounting staff and HR department have been given the option to work from home, and encouraged to do so if they have school age children.

Has anyone seen logical justification for the curfews? That shit is so damn stupid.

I feel terrible for my employees. Ad a small business I am giving them all two weeks pay but that’s nothing in the big picture.

I have family in the hotel business, and its the same situation there. The housekeepers and the ones working the counters get paid out of the income the hotel generates. If there's no people staying, they run out of buffer quick. As the problem continues, the cuts go up the chain.

And we're seeing it in the numbers:
    Unemployment claims filed in Ohio:
    Last Sunday: 536
    This Sunday: 11,995
    Monday: 36,645

It’s the turnaround time... a couple live paycheck to paycheck & another just had twins with a 1.5 yr old already.

They will collect but how long will that take and it’s only a portion of what they make.

That's what my wife's employees are having to do. She owns two fitness studios with 25 employees between them and most of them are now out of work for the time being. She's keeping her general managers on payroll for the short term at least to keep things moving behind the scenes, in case the ban on gyms/restaurants, etc miraculously gets lifted or relaxed in a couple weeks. Who knows, if we actually manage to flatten the curve a bit, maybe they will. Wishful thinking though.
