Well, maybe you don't really work in a hospital...
Here are the facts, like it or not, I know, truth is painful.
I work in the RF field. Some of my jobs involve testing and monitoring RF/Wi-Fi foot print coverage at customer locations as mentioned before. The general/trauma hospital I worked at, has a few large waiting areas for patients and many RF antennas all over the place. I have to be under the antenna and record the power output of each unit (RSSI/RSRP) which takes a short time. There is a mixture of patients including Latinos that have poor hygiene, cough and sneeze in the open, spit in the garbage containers. Have seen the sneeze mist float in the air (highlighted by the sun - like dust) drifting all around. Also, people cough, cough, look at me asking what is that equipment, cough, cough next to me...I have no symptoms but if I got it, is mine to keep and nourish it.
Most local hospitals are full now, a lot of people take advantage of the free checkup...
Media should stop the panic hype. All viruses (viral infection in the lungs as opposed to sanguine infection in the blood) are "corona" type, including the normal seasonal flu. Or the government and media know something else and not informing the public...like the grapevine rumor that this contagion is more like a typhoid fever than a viral infection.

That is horrible. I feel ya. In this day and age, there are a LOT of small businesses.... including myself.... I suspect the majority will be detrimentally harmed. And, when I say "detrimentally", I really mean totally fkd! lol.

So, I know everyone (mostly) is taking the "better safe than sorry", "this is serious" high road, but some of us are looking at disaster because people will not be able to pay us money they owe for services already or being rendered. And, this hyperbolic panic is pissing some of us off. If you are old enough, recall SARS, H1NI, swine flu... etc. All amounted to... not much. There is really no coming back at this point, a recession is extremely likely and a cratered economy like 2008 or worse is probable.

Approximately 3100 people die in auto accidents EVERY month, not many people give a crap... and we don't shut down roads... take away cars... force car dealerships to close... etc.

Just my personal 2 cents, which will be worth -10 cents by the end of the day I am sure.

I think there is a variable aside from age or pre-existing conditions that isn't accounted for yet. Some people have it and show no symptoms, while others get knocked flat.

They may get very sick but do they die? I'm not trying to be a dick but this makes a difference in how to handle a worldwide pandemic

I think at this point the question is how many require hospitalization. Both the cases I mentioned are in the hospital, hopefully not dead.

I really want to sit down and scrape together some more data on this stuff, news articles just aren't giving a complete picture.

I'm curious, those of you who think the precautions are overblown to protect our healthcare infrastructure from being overrun and are hysteria inducing (not talking about toilet paper hording, but the calls for social distancing and working from home and schools closing, those types of things), what has to happen for you to see that this wasn't an overreaction?

What scale of fatality/illness is needed for you to say "geez... maybe this is much worse than I thought."

No judgement (at least by me), I'm just curious.

    Sorry. Illegals.
Hell no, I don't work in a hospital. If would be up to me, all hospitals should be burned down. Thinning the herd.

Undocumented ? Not sure how you’d know. Implying they are dirty/unhygienic is just weird at best.

Personally, I feel like everyone will feel the effect of closings and shutdowns. Not everyone will (would) get infected. And even less would die. Basically, shutting everything down is worse then the possibility of getting sick for the majority of those under 60 and without previous conditions. This virus falls somewhere between SARS and H1N1 as far as mortality rate and infectious level. If you are old enough to remember either of those, it wasn't blown up into the thing this has become. Personal opinion obviously, (except the media coverage part, that's true) and it does't amount to much.
