Don’t all our 4x4 trucks have a step on there alternator pulley. Don’t see why a couple washers wouldn’t work with a flat NST pulley

 

its more of the annoyance that they did not include it. With some story that some have flat some do not. Almost all of us except for a couple have the step. We could do that but why not get the one thye should have included.

Before i email them anyone have a step version they want to trade for a flat version in black?

 

I took a flat one and they gave me a stepped one. I'll trade ya.

 

let me know if you have it and we can swap. I emailed them so whichever comes first but rather swap if we can. Honestly feels like they randomly picked pulleys.

 

Well its a bit principle because as you said they all or at least it was assumed they did so we all said hey i have a 4x4 with x package please use the right pulley. They set the flat one anyway with a note that hey were not sure there are 2 types and pretty much everyone has the step. They said they would swap its more of an annoyance. worst case yes we could use washers but if they can swap ill do that first. Just annoying since most if not all that needed it told them up front.

 

Going back to ECGS under warranty. Truck will be down for a couple of weeks. I miss it already and it has only been 4 days. The 5.7L in the Tundra is nice, but just not the same kind of punch.

 

Same problem that they had years ago. I was the first to share it in person with them. Also why I posted the picture of the differences. With aims to help alleviate this current problem.

Yah and we told them straight up but they still sent the wrong ones.

 

So are there different alternators for it being either stepped or flat. I guess I don’t remember this ordeal years ago since I got the correct one.

 

I believe the truck with the tow package have a different one

 

I mean truthfully speaking as @TRON mentioned you can fix the issue if you don't have the step but need it by running a couple of washers back there. The ones who do have a step but did not need it can just slice it off the smooth it out with a Dremel or angle grinder then finish it off smooth with a belt sander if they really don't want to bother extra wait time.

 

Zinc grade 8 washers and call it good. If you really look at our pulley system there are washers and spacers on most of the pulleys especially on our SC kits. Anyway, I’m still curious of the reasoning. So all tow package trucks have the step. Cause that’s what I have on my trdsport. But I thought xrunners have a step too. @Torspd

 

I thought mine was flat but never knew that once you pull it out it has a step that you can't see unless you pull it out. I may have a step on mine after all. The only way I'll know is to try and pull it again.

 

Neither grinding it nor slicing it off, alone, will work . Trust me on this one.

 

yah doesnt seem like rhyme or reason. NST says that the tow package has the flat one but not what i have been seeing with most folks.

They just told me that in an email.

package) pulleys in the group buy. It sounds like you have a standard
pulley on your alternator.

 

yah totally they are in CA so its an easy swap just annoyance mostly.

 

Anyone ever seen this buildup on the bottom of the rad cap and in the coolant?
