2.7 L Exhaust Options

Hello Everyone!

Been looking into options that will make the truck sound a little better.

I own a 2.7 L i4 and haven't come by many exhaust options. All I see is 3.5 L v6 options

I am new to the game so please, any advice/information is helpful!

 

Typically you would simply weld in a muffler at an exhaust shop with lower production models like the i4 2.7.

The 2.7 hasnt changed since 2005 much so you can visit Youtube and search for tacomas with 2.7 i4's and you'll find many likely have magnaflow etc welded in at a shop.

 

Just stick to oe muffler anything else that sounds “cool” really just sounds ricey and even looks ricey when a prius flys by your rice rocket

 

generally, i’m with everyone in the oem crowd. it’s just too easy to make an i4 sound raspy and horrid.

that being said, i love pretty much everything about this one: an autozone cherry bomb knockoff for 25 bucks, and you get the sounds of a snarly little uel boxer engine.

it’s not my style, but the kid in me loves the ridiculousness. i mean, i would probably have fun brapping and blipping all the way to work...

 

You already have the best

 

Keep the stock, it’s made from good material and sounds nice. Just cut it after the axle.

it won’t change the sound, but it keeps the silhouette tidy, and it won’t snag when you’re off road.

 

That actually sounds not bad at all.

If there was no video and just the sound, i would have said its a subaru for sure.

 

Stay with stock our you will sound like a pissed off Honda

 

What size is the exhuast pipe? i have 1997 toyota tacoma 2.7l

I've even been in a truck that had a nicely done adaptation of the TRD exhaust from a v6, and while better than most things you hear, it still wasn't 'right'.

Keep in mind there are some sporty/peppy 4 bangers. Then there are reliable plodders like the Tacoma.

No one but the unknowing will be fooled by a noisier 2.7
