Growing up in south georgia, my parents would take us on "sunday" drives after church. Good way to get out of the house and see the area we lived in. I now live in the mtns of NC. Gas $ are coming down, shouldnt go in public due to covid-19. Now would be a perfect time to settle in 2.0.

Quick question. How empty does the tank need to be to fill up with 91 and flash the 91 tune? My fuel light came on and I'm down to about 20 miles to empty, but realize that even with 0 to empty there's usually about a 3 gallon reserve. Would that 3 gallons of 87 combined with 18 or so gallons of 91 be enough to throw off the tune? If so I'll just run 91 on the 87 tune for maybe half a tank and fill back up with 91 a second time and flash. Just curious for those that have moved to 91. Just felt like trying out 2.0 Beta on 91. 87 is already a massive improvement however.

On a complete side note - anyone else's 2 to 1 shift while braking rather rough? As in, it slams into first from second right when slowing to a stop or near stop and kinda feels like someone's rear ending you? Mine only started doing that last week but it's hit or miss. Kinda hoping something hasn't gone wrong in the transmission right at 65K, out of the factory powertrain warranty.

Flash to 2.0 you’ll be fine. If it’s that low and you fill up it’ll not cause any issues I did mine when first flashing the tune last year.

Good question. I don't know the right answer but when I switched to a higher octane tune I stayed on the base tune and ran a full tank of premium through the truck, then refilled with premium and then flashed.

I went from the base tune to the premium tune with about 1/8 of a tank left. However this was on the finished 2.0 that has octane learning, im sure someone here knows if the beta does also. But if you arent out banging redline, then id say you are safe where youre at with switching now.

Let's just hope that like everything else made in China, it doesn't last very long.

    Edit:

In the meantime, it would be nice if 2.0 dropped to get out of the house more.

Thanks all! I'll see if I can get it from 20 to 0 DTE and try with 3/21 of the tank being 87, figure it'll mix and dilute anyway and then get full 91 soon since I'm going on a bit of a trip. Can't wait for the final but the beta will do! I almost started on 1.05 but figured the heck with it 2.0 beta is 1.05 with extras :)

Octane is additive. You can calculate your anticipated octane rating at a a fill up, if you know the quantity and rating of the fuel in the truck, and how much of what octane you want to add. Here is a quick Excel sheet I put together to calculate what the ratings would be on first and second tank. You enter the data in the yellow cells and the results will be in the green cells.

I posted that in this thread a few days ago.

Yes we have an updated version for 2019s (public). Not final though. More testing is still being done.

16/17/18/20 2.0 is not complete yet, but will be released when complete.

Other things are going on right now that take some precedence.
All schools are closed for 2+ weeks, my kids are home, everything is closing, my wife has no work now, we are still back logged on getting more cables (although we do have some here for orders that will be going out today).

family is priority man, I think (hope) we can all understand that!

Our trucks and their issues should be taking a back seat, though we are all still excited for what you have in the works!

I guess I should say that you are not really "spiking up" the 87 octane left in your tank, so much as you are "thinning down", or reducing, the octane level of the new 91 you are putting in.

I hope that everyone here reads this and understands the same. Take care of things you need to first, get any priorities in order, and then worry about updating your truck.
Maybe it has not affected you guys yet but it will. I live in a small nowhere town and it's already affecting everywhere out here. Virginia mandated closures, etc.

My wife works for a company in California, they are closing,

just a real mess right now.

Thanks for your work and take care. The nice thing about hobbies and interests like our trucks is that they can provide a much needed distraction with crap like this going on every where. We're all just passing the time and looking forward to trying what's coming.....now or in the weeks ahead.
