Deer hunting BS thread

Just have to take more showers...lol

 

I hope they get this coronavirus under control before tick season or we’ll be dealing with coronavirus with Lyme disease.

 

Down to my last bag of deer jerky from a batch a couple weeks ago. may have to do one more.

 

Finished ours last week, got more sliced in the freezer. Time for a thaw

well the last trip to the mountain for a while tommorow. im taking a buddy along and were just going to mess around. maybe find an early mess of ramps. going to look where the boys moved my treestand into my new spot.they said its tore all to hell with buck sign from this year.will run a few cameras late summer there.I want the one that dropped these in December right where my stand is.good mass for our deer so must have some age on him.will check one field for sheds that hasnt been checked. landowner was clearing heavy brush at them this winter. oh and yea the pic is a repost.

 

Persistence pays off . Out looking for sheds today and decided to look in a nearly impenetrable thicket of thorns (2-3 acre) that I looked in a couple times since late October for the deer I shot during archery season. Even the tracking dog couldn’t find him and I looked for 3weeks straight and then some ! Around 300-400 yards from where I whacked him . Still can’t believe it obviously I wish I had recovered him sooner . This is a nice deer for my area !

I know ,hard to believe . It’s so thick and full of thorns where he died . I looked in there a couple times . Coyotes must have finally dragged him to the edge .

 

Hate to lose one that way, glad you finally found him and know where he was.

 

It was killing me not knowing . It’s a big relief

 

now ya at least know where to hunt..

 

My rifle stand is 150 yards from where I found him, on the edge of that nasty stuff . My one bow stand where I stuck him is up the hill between 300-400 yards . It’s just a tough spot to hunt with the bow . Maybe I will stick one of my blinds in there somewhere.

It will be a challenge getting in and out of that area without spooking deer . I always considered that area a sanctuary. The old timers that used to hunt this property would always put drives on in that stuff but it has since become 99% impenetrable. My neighbor has a stand on an edge of the same stuff and he is primarily a meat hunter and shoots the first buck he sees usually a 1.5 year old He also does not practice scent free hunting . Walks around with his bow in his smelly work clothes ,friggen idiot .

 

Our sons 8th birthday party was supposed to be today, he wanted a hunting theme but we decided it was best not to get a bunch of people over with everything going on and grandparents health issues. He’s been heartbroken for 3 days. He ask if we could go shoot. He wanted to put a blind up and shoot out of it. We took his bow, the .22 rifle, .22 pistol, and baby girls bow. She also shot the rifle and pistol. Cole did good shooting the rifle, he hit 39 out of 40 shots with some free handed and the targets are only 3”.
