My other torque wrenches are the needle/beam style which can be a pain to use in certain situations. My 1/4" sees very little use.

I guess if it really bothered you enough you could exchange your 3/8" for another, but doesn't sound like that's the case for you.

Yep, shipped from Moreno Valley at the top of LA, 2.5 hrs SE from here.

The 1/2” digital torque meter is nicer than I expected. It shipped with a calibration curve that shows it tested to within 1% at 3 points in the range. I tested my 15 yr old 1/4” HF clicker set at 140 lb-in against the digital gauge, which reads 147.2 lb-in at click. That’s a 5.1% error, better than I expected given that clicker has floated around the back of my truck since ~2005.

That's great to hear. The digi adapter just rocks in my garage.

Thanks for mentioning it. I am trying to use it whenever possible to help calibrate my sense of torque. For under $30 it is high on my HF favorites list.

It will definitely help. But for me, there is no muscle memory developing. It is either use torque wrenches and adapters or snap and strip fasteners.

What's up with your prime? If I order on Friday, half the time I get it on Saturday, Monday at the latest.

Not sure about your specific wrench, but a lot of those clickers have some adjustment mechanism. If yours does, you can use the digital to bring old wrenches back into range.

My old HF clicker has an adjustment port. I would be surprised if the new ones didn't. Just the nature of the wrench?

"NEW TO ME", I've just seen, Harbor Freight is selling a "High Frequency", 12V, 4 amp battery charger. Not familiar with High frequency battery chargers. What the heck is a high frequency charger, & what frequency are the older ones I have in the garage?

I have not seen the product that you are talking about, but this might relate to duty cycle and for semi-continuous charging, i.e. Battery Tender and similar? The OG battery charges were high amp for faster charging, but too high for maintaining a charge.

If you link up on of these new items, we can give it a better look.

The pulsed chargers typically have a microprocesssor that diagnoses problems if present and tries to watch voltage and current to not overcharge and also quit if the load is not as it should be at whatever voltage it is using. They can also use higher overvoltage for charging faster while also reducing sulfation of the plates. Since current flow is nearly instant but chemical reactions have a longer timescale since mechanical transport like diffusion is needed for the side reactions to occur, higher frequencies minimize the side reactions but still allow the bulk current flow between plates, giving a longer battery lifespan.

I would pass on this and get a noco/battery tender/shumacher brand. Not a fan of HF electronic stuff.

What's up with your prime? Are you saying you get it on either sat or mon, because I get regular Sunday deliveries. I, like you, very often get stuff in 1 day. Lucky to be near a couple distribution hubs.

Back in my day, sonny, we had 10day shipping with UPS ground from the other coast. Uphill both ways!

I have a battery tender and 2 schumacher chargers. I have the small 750 ma battery tender, a 1.5 amp Schumacher maintainer, and a larger 30 amp Schumacher charger.
I really don’t “need” another charger, I just saw these and thought it might be handy to have another charger/maintainer that I could leave on something and not have to move them around as much. The HF unit gets good reviews and of the YouTube videos I’ve watched people seem to like them. I would like to have a charger/maintainer that is capable of desulfating a battery, in theory anyways.

I also have a Noco charger and would not consider any HF chargers as I don’t trust their electronics for anything important either.

I’ve got that. Just picked it up at the sale last weekend. Works great, charges up then trickles. Comes with a few helpful accessories.
