i changed both the T-case and rear diff at 38,000km. Wanted to clear up the metal shavings from the gears polishing themselves and wanted to check if the rear diff breather mod help up well (it did).

Picked up 80W-90 since the goal is to lubricate the gears, and 75W-90 was hard to find - Upper James Toyota wouldn't sell me the 75w-90 and if they could, it's like $25 a litre and that's not happening for 6 Litres. other than that i've not had any issues so far and i'm around 58,000km now.
    https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/motomaster-extreme-pressure-gear-oil-80w90-946-ml-0280239p.html

I followed this for the T-case and Diff; https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-manual-transmission-6mt-fluid-change.481719/

So right now our trucks have the disconnect at the front diff so the Front driveshaft doesnt Spin. This is the ADD (automatic disconnecting differential).

What I am doing is getting rid of it all. Tcase from an auto fj and front diff tube from a manual fj. So the truck will have spinning components Just like the manual fj cruiser does.

I could get locking hubs, but they are extremely expensive for our trucks. Like triple to four times the price of a regular hub assembly and aftermarket cvs. Not worth it if you are in the road and want off the shelf parts.

does that answer your question? It’s late and haven’t had to think for almost a week....

Did all my fluids at 100k with Toyota OEM front/rear diffs and Tcase with redline for the MT. I'd say you're very early of schedule based on what I saw come out. If anything then change your front diff, it will be dirty. Rear and tcase will be clean. MT change at will, redline is a good jello.

Pull the fill nuts and dip a finger, you'll see what I mean.

I did a write up of mine in the diy thread, I can go look and pull it up if you want, has all specs

You've got a 100k on your 16? I wouldn't mind doing the diffs just to get any metal particles out and maybe leave the T-case. Bulk oil from Toyota as someone else posted would work. I'll look for your write up on the diy thread. I use that one quite often actually.

I got 100K on my 2018 and market value below 10K! Fastest Tacoma depreciation ever!

Back to topic. Doesn't matter really what you put in the diffs as long as you stick to the correct weight 75w-90(mine is mix of 4 different weight gear oils and water, running strong :muscleflexing:), the T-case I recommend sticking with OEM fluid as it's got different viscosity from gear oil in the diffs.

Yes. I have one shifter that operates hi and low range and another shifter for 2wd and 4wd. Technically I pick up another 5 gears because of 2wd low (if we are thinking like big rig drivers).

I put redline in the manual trans & tcase, takes about 2.5qts for the pair. I was able to REDLINE from a VW shop in Brampton, but it was still $28 CDN ea. (Auto Select Tuning on Rutherford / Steeles). I like how the redline shifts well at all temps, been running it for 30,000km with no concerns.
I put something cheaper into the diffs at 75W90 weight. Think I bought a 5L jug at Canadian Tire.
New crush washers were about $20 for the set of 8.

figured camping trailer at first, if it's for work lights - then all light you can get, the better
As you can adjust their angle, and that it's $50 for the 4 of them.
you'll just need some run of the mill wiring harness that all the amazoom lights use and go fro there.

    I love having 2LO options.
How many points do you gain for extra levers? I was recently reminded the sticker / carbon wrap math, but I think levers and switches are way cooler.

I don’t know about points. I’m just tired of having to stop and go from 2wd and 4low on the trail. Figured with 2wd I can run slow enough on the trail I don’t have to ride the brake all day and heat up the trans. And can easily go from 2wd and 4wd on the fly when an obstacle comes up. Plus imagine in slow traffic......as a driver of an automatic I am a lazy man.....
