My son is 6 months post cancer treatments and every cold he’s gotten since then has gone STRAIGHT to his lungs. His sister takes it like a champ and is over the cold in three days while he has it for at least a week and waaaay worse than hers ever gets. I speak with other parents in similar situations and their child has the same reactions to basic colds.

As has been said many times, the reason we all need to flatten the curve is so that “healthy” people that get it don’t clog the system up and people that are older or compromised have a bed available if needed.

It sucks having to stay home for a few weeks but it’s the simplest and best way to stop this thing. If you’re healthy now and feel invincible, remember, things can change in a hurry. If you or someone you know needs a bed and one isn’t available imagine how that would feel.

    Stay safe out there people!

Really glad to hear that. I know it’s hard and beyond hard for some. But it’s absolutely what we need to do. Hoping other major metro areas follow suit.

Some facts regarding COVID-19: The current mortality rate for people 50 and younger is at 0.2% (which likely is lower since most people infected with mild symptoms don't get hospitalized and therefore are not tested/reported). Highest risk group by far is age 70 or above.

So far, Italy has reported the most amount of deaths at 2500 but 99% of the COVID-19 deaths in Italy had comorbid, pre-existing conditions and the average age was 79.5

So far, there are 225,000 infected people with COVID 19 WORLDWIDE with 9500 reported deaths (183 deaths in the US).

In 2018, there were 35 million people infected with influenza, almost 500,000 hospitalizations and 34,000 deaths in the US alone!!!

The need to slow the spread of the COVID virus in order to not overwhelm our hospitals is a valid concern but I do not agree with the LEFT mainstream media trying spread fear and paranoia across our great nation. We have THE BEST healthcare system in the world and for 99% of our population, this virus is not going to pose a serious risk to our health.

However, the economic hardship that is about to happen because of the aggressive tactics by our government "leaders" needs to be assessed and scrutinized as we move forward. Should we be sequestering everyone and keeping our kids out of school for the next 3 months when they are not at risk??? The economic burden and hardship for millions of Americans may FAR EXCEED the morbidity related to COVID-19 infections.

Let's continue to inform, educate and make reasonable recommendations/decisions based off facts & data and NOT based on speculation and uncertainty. This virus is already in our communities and will spread despite our best efforts to contain it.

Practice good hygiene and protect our elderly and vulnerable populations but let's not stop living our lives simply because our government THINKS they are doing the right thing to contain it. DO WE TAKE SUCH DRASTIC ACTIONS FOR THE FLU EVERY YEAR even though it kills more than 30,000 people/year?? just something to think about as we seclude ourselves over the next month(s)??

Definitely don’t agree with “greatest health care system in the world” statement. It’s definitely the greatest scam and money sucking system in the world no doubt however.

Sorry, but I'm going with the science on this one. Flu is not a reportable disease while coronavirus is nasty as fuck and will kill your ass. My sisters hospital has a 30-year old on an ECMO machine with no preexistings. He gets a double lung transplant IF he lives. There wont be an economy if the infection trajectory persists.

He was definitely at high risk not "at" risk as someone put it. Asthma, chronic bronchitis and immunocompromised as someone else put it based on his remission which only means it undetectable.
