DON’T DO IT!! I’ve had 2 third gens and ended up getting rid of both and buying a 2nd gen. There seems to be a lot of issues with them, even the nearest year. If your truck is running and driving great, I wouldn’t trade it for something you could regret. That’s just my 2 cents though!

Put an Extang Black Max tonneau cover on. (Anniversary present) Installation was simple, and it's made in USA. No more rain on the bed bolts.:bananadance:

So as to why I did my rear shoes today.

Yesterday I went to a local shop to get my state inspection done. He takes 4 hours and calls me and says the truck failed because my rear shoes were almost at the metal. I say oh okay, so I pick it up, he offers to replace the drum shoes, I say no thanks.

Today as I pull everything off to replace the shoes myself, I realize, this guy never even took the damn drums off. And as far as I know, you cant see the brake shoes without taking the drums off. Then when I finally get the drums off, I see a pretty good amount of brake shoe left.

After I finished the job on both sides, I drive to a local Firestone shop and tell them what happened. The tech tells me, in NYS, if drum brakes arent making any noise when braking, you cant fail them, even if theres damn near nothing left on the shoe. He said the reason that is, is because taking drums off to inspect is such a hassle for most shops, that the state has actually allowed a rule for drums to pass inspection without a visual check as long as no noise is heard from them while braking.

Come to the conclusion that the previous shop was full of shit and looking to make a quick buck. It's not like I have the look of someone that doesnt know crap about cars. Will never be going there again.

Given that we've had rain three days straight, I guess I don't need to wash mine right now. :D

My poor truck is no longer speedway blue. With all the yellow live oak pollen it’s now green.

nice..I have had one for 5 years, last summer I pulled a snap apart while taking the cover off....sent them a note and asked how best to replace the snap, they sent me a kit, 6 snaps and a set of jaws that slip over vise grips, instructions...no charge...not a lot of customer service like that anymore......

    Looks awesome!
What did you use for material? And is it tied down somehow?
I was thinking of doing something like this and would like some more information if possible.
    Cheers!

If you don’t offroad and have oversized tires it would probably be a waste of your time and money. The key benefits are strengthening and stabilizing the LCA joints which don’t like to stay out when you start wheeling and especially with big heavy tires
