Hang in there man. Things may look dark now but there is light on the horizon. Be strong. You and your girls will get through this. All of us dads share your pain. Try to stay positive, for yourself and your family.

 

A medical journal article suspecting a linkage shouldn't be dismissed. Also, the 'newer' NSAIDs also inhibit ACE while acetaminophen (Tylenol) does not. But, like I said (and the article), it's preliminary linkage at best, so choose your NSAID wisely. Consult your actual medical professional for advice, and this is just an internet forum.

Wrong. Might want to revisit your pharmacology. OTC NSAIDs do not inhibit ACE. When combined with an ACE inhibtor which is prescription only, yes different story. For the love of all that is good, stop posting stuff you have no experience or background in. Did you read the article or just because its a medical journal? Evidence based. What evidence? Do you understand the MOA of NSAIDs or what COX and ACE are and how or what these do in the body? Or just regurgitating stuff form the interwebs.

This is a truck enthusiasts forum. Hopefully OP didn't come here for medical advice. Probably just a guy looking to vent and maybe looking for some support in hard times, not unreasonable at all. Let's just support the guy and his family and wish for the best. Just my 2 cents.

 

Oh I am in regards to OP (see my first post), that was in response to that poster posting incorrect information about what medications he should avoid OTC, which I then called said poster out on who then is continuing to try and argue or legitamize with incorrect statements. Point is last thing OP needs is people stating which medications he should / shouldn't avoid or posting stuff that isnt fact based, especially said medications can be used in the treatment of the flu, including fever, pain and inflammation unless contraindicated, the WHO even walked back the France article, this kind of misinformation just adds to what makes this whole situation dangerous.

 

100% agree. Just trying to keep things in perspective for OP. He's in panic mode and rightfully so. But the human body is resilient (even 1 year olds) and odds are his family will pull through. Think positive.

 

Exactly, but let's say he runs out of tylenol or is on lockdown and the only availble medication he has is ibuprofren in his cabinet, telling him it is unsafe to use to help reduce his fiancee's fever is wrong and dangerous. And exactly, the data supports a positive outcome for him and his family and him and his family are definitely in my family's thoughts and prayers.

 

Yeah, I hear you and again I 100% agree with you. There are still a lot of unknowns with this virus, no doubt. Just saying that this is not the place to debate the use of OTC medicine, or any other health-related science because we're largely a bunch of Tacoma-driving idiots. Just support OP and leave the science to actual scientists and doctors. That's all. We're all on the same team here.

 

6 months from finishing my second degree BSN, took pharmacology, just dispelling false statements...but yes always always consult HCP, everyone and situation is different when it comes to medications.

Keep an eye on how fast they are breathing and if their lips turn blue and take them in if something isn’t right. They can measure their oxygen levels and help them if needed. My young daughter had a respiratory illness a few years ago and stayed in the hospital for several days. If I remember correctly she was on oxygen and was given a nebulizer with an asthma medication. Sorry you are going through this, scary for sure.

 

Far from dumb, I had a mech and software engineer as roommates, dudes always impressed me, when I was looking at what to go to school for I thought I love building / wrenching I'll be an engineer, saw the course load and said, nope too dumb for that, lol.

I know you feel alone right now, like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, and that all the people you trust to take care of you are doing is saying to stay home and weather the storm. The fact that it is the best advice they can give you right now doesn't make it any easier to hear, or any easier to give.

Thank you on behalf of those at hospital you are keeping safe by isolating, and for the resources you are keeping in the system for your neighbors, your parents, and, in the worst case, for yourselves.

And thank you on my own behalf, and that of my brothers and sisters who will come and continue to come when you call 911. You are the first one I have said these things to, but over the next weeks will not be the last.

I know numbers provide little comfort, but what numbers there are are good. No patients in your daughter's age range have died, or even been admitted to the ICU. Within you and your wife's age range, survival is > 499 in 500. That's better than the BS to useful post ratio in the 3rd gen forum.

You and your family may be scared, but you are strong. And the stronger you are the stronger the system to support you is.

Listen to your docs - call when you have concerns, but listen to what they have to say. Y'all got this, and if you start slipping we got you.

Also, if you have any suspension or tire size questions, this is probably the opportune moment to ask them.

 

Op, as a parent I can only imagine the array of emotions you are facing at this moment. I am so sorry you and your family are having to deal with this. Fluids, rest and whatever meds your doctor advises. As hard as it may seem, try and remain calm. Call your primary if you have any questions or concerns.
