Others like myself in San Diego (and nation wide) are in the hospitality industry. Many have temporarily (and permanently) lost their jobs. Finding solid charities is a good way to help. Also spreading the word about possible job opportunities is a major plus. My girlfriend and I have signed up for unemployment and restaurant worker relief programs but it's an agonisingly slow process. We're doing everything we can to keep our heads above water but feel we might wind up in massive debt by the time this thing is all over. Trying to find work has been extremely hard but we're trying to keep our heads up and keep up the grind.

Take care of each out there,
    -theo #sandiego

Here's a few hospitality charity links if anyone needs help or wants to donate:

Not an immediate hire but if your looking for a career in government at an entry level we are hiring. There are many different career paths and they train you to become a journeyman in such as machinist/mechanic, pipefitter(plumber), electrician, welder, and so on. If anyone is interested just send me a pm and I'll get the info for you.

I heard an ad on the radio yesterday about ralphs looking to hire extra help in these times. After Gavins state shut down I’m not sure if they still plan to hire, but worth looking into

The key would be finding an "essential" business that needs temp help if you're looking for something quick to provide income. Any grocery store is the first thing that comes to mind. Might not be the most ideal situation but it'll provide some type of income until things settle down.

Well that's a positive. I still don't have a clue what my company policy is on the subject.

It's hard to sit at home and do nothing, but time is the only thing that is on our side to get past this.

    EMERGENCY PAID SICK LEAVE (EPSL)

“Full-time employees are entitled to 80 hours of emergency paid sick leave. Part-time employees are entitled to paid sick leave in an amount equal to the hours that they work, on average, over a two-week period. We understand this EPSL to be in addition to the sick balance you already have been afforded.”

Sorry to hear that man, when this is over my wife and I plan on doing a "small business Saturday" type of thing. We've been ordering takeout when/ where we can to help support small business...It sucks that people are straight up getting laid off though...I keep getting emails from my credit card companies talking about how they are here for us and we can still pay our bills online...UMMM how about some info on how you plan on cutting is some slack? waive late fees? give more time to pay etc....no...hopefully something changes there.

I hate price gougers. These people talking about supply and demand make me cringe...Just had to add that ....

Wishing you the best, and when we're in better shape I hopefully you can get your job back or something better!
